  • John Digweed - Live At Twilo
BeatTracker #1 Top Releases in Electronica

Twenty-five years after the doors of New York City's legendary Twilo closed, John Digweed returns to the venue that helped define an era of electronic music with the release of Live at Twilo, a stunning four-CD live mix recorded during the club's extraordinary one-off reunion on March 6, 2026.\n\nCaptured during Danny Tenaglia's birthday weekend celebrations, Live at Twilo documents Digweed's emotional return to the iconic dancefloor at 530 West 27th Street; a venue forever intertwined with his career and with the evolution of electronic music in America.\n\nFor clubbers around the world, Twilo was more than just a nightclub. Throughout the late 1990s, Sasha & John Digweed's legendary monthly residencies became the benchmark for marathon DJ sets, pushing musical boundaries over eight and sometimes ten-hour performances that helped establish progressive house as a global movement. Their appearances at Twilo between 1996 and the club's closure in 2001 remain among the most celebrated moments in dance music history, making Digweed's return for this special reunion one of the most significant events in recent club culture.\n\nReflecting on the release, John Digweed said:\n\n'This was such a special night for me and being invited back to play Twilo again, for Danny Tenaglia's birthday weekend was a dream come true. After listening back to the recording, I knew I had to release this set, which was so memorable for me and for so many people that had travelled far and wide to have one more dance in that incredible room. I hope that you enjoy my set as much as I did on the night.'\n\nSpeaking on the early response to the release, John continued:\n\n'I've been totally blown away by the reaction to the announcement of this album. The limited edition signed CD's and Vinyl packs sold out in 10 days, which was just an amazing response to this release.'\n\nSpread across four CDs, Live at Twilo captures five hours of Digweed's extended set as he carefully rebuilds the atmosphere of one of the world's most revered dancefloors. Seamlessly blending music from three decades, the mix pays homage to Twilo's rich musical heritage while remaining firmly rooted in the present.\n\nClassic New York house influences from artists including Angel Moraes, Deep Dish, John Creamer & Stephane K sit effortlessly alongside contemporary favourites such as Frankey & Sandrino, Tom Pavicich, Yunus Guvenen and Rocco Rodamaal. The result is a timeless journey that celebrates both the club's extraordinary legacy and Digweed's enduring artistry behind the decks. Recorded in front of a packed room filled with fans who travelled from across the globe to experience one final night on the famous Twilo dancefloor, the recording captures an atmosphere that many believed would never exist again.

    Doug Crawford

    Beatport Top Releases

Skirring - Doug Crawford\n\nDoug has this thing he does...\n\nHe leaves space.\n\nLiving space.\n\nThe track opens with little bits of ear candy drifting around the stereo field before everything slowly finds its footing. Synths move from side to side, atmospheres breathe in and out, and underneath it all is this understated bass line that just quietly holds everything together.\n\nThe percussion is solid—really solid. Claps, percussion, little rhythmic accents... they're all doing exactly what they're supposed to do without trying to steal the spotlight.\n\nThen those echo-soaked vocal textures show up and suddenly you're somewhere around 2003, except you aren't. It's familiar without trying to be too nostalgic.\n\nThe breakdown takes its time. Builds pressure the old-fashioned way. Then the melody comes back in on the drop, and everything opens up again.\n\nDoug's productions always feel... wide. Like they've got fresh air in them.\n\n"Skirring" isn't trying to be the biggest record in your crate.\n\nIt's the one that quietly connects everything else.\n\nSkirring (Vini Camalcha Remix)\n\nNow Vini...\n\nHe hears "Skirring" and immediately says, "Yeah... let's dance."\n\nThe breakbeat disappears and in comes a warm four-on-the-floor groove with that unmistakable pumping bass line he's become known for. You hear it almost immediately and think, "Yep... that's Vini."\n\nThe way he brings sounds in and out with filters is smooth. Nothing feels forced. The track keeps unfolding naturally, one layer at a time, until suddenly you've got this full progressive house groove carrying everything forward.\n\nThe breakdown never loses the thread. It keeps the energy suspended just long enough before the melody slides back in and reminds you why you've been smiling for the last six minutes.\n\nThis feels like the point in the night where the room has filled in, everyone's found their place, and nobody's checking the time anymore.\n\nJust let it roll.\n\nSkirring (Mike Bentley Remix)\n\nMike takes a different approach.\n\nNo rush.\n\nA deep bass line settles in, the kick and snare find their rhythm, hats arrive a little later, and before long the whole thing is just... cruising.\n\nThere's something wonderfully classic about it.\n\nEchoing percussion. Chugging bass. Warm atmospheres floating around the edges. Little conversations happening between synths that call and answer each other without ever getting in each other's way.\n\nIt feels like one of those progressive house records you'd put on first—not because it's trying to steal the night, but because it knows exactly how to start one.\n\nThe breakdown stretches things out just enough. The tension builds naturally. The drop lands without making a scene.\n\nAnd somehow that's exactly why it works.
