    Eerie Enterprise

As Eerie Enterprise, upsammy and Piezo have funnelled their singular styles into a classic-feeling but ultra-modern album of elegant, angular electronica. With a strong melodic sensibility and a highly developed palette of playful sound design in their toolkit, the unexpected pairing grew spontaneous jams into a considered collaboration, and Places Remember Events is the end result. Individually, Thessa Torsing and Luca Mucci have carved out strong identities within contemporary electronic music. As upsammy, Torsing has applied a delicate precision to ambient and uptempo approaches alike, building up a striking catalogue of releases including her 2020 LP for Dekmantel, Zoom. Meanwhile, Mucci has taken a wayward path through contemporary bass music and techno that matches edgy sound design with playful unpredictability. As Eerie Enterprise, both artists tap into their respective creative instincts while arriving at a unique sound with a nurturing quality they were both missing from modern dance music. Having appreciated each other's work for some years, in July 2024 Torsing and Mucci seized an opportunity to carve out two days in the studio. There was no expectation of an end product, but the sketches conceived during those open-ended, hardware-oriented sessions felt worthy of a deeper exploration developed and finalised over the following year-and-a-half. Places Remember Events has an unapologetically nostalgic streak, calling to mind the warm glow of melodically-charged, golden-era electronica. The twitchy rhythmic make-up of tracks like 'Decay + Collapse' and 'Folding Origin' speak to the duo's shared affinity for ravey energy, but even within faster frameworks they lean into half-time space to maintain a light-footed agility that allows the relatively busy arrangements to feel grounded and patient rather than frantic. There's an appreciation for mystery in the emotional make-up of many of the tracks, not least in the slithering textural exploration and spatial tension of 'Capsule', but elsewhere fragile melancholia guides the melody direction of 'Superradiance' and 'Things Fall Upwards'. The final impression is crisp and modern while delivering an accessible experience that seeks to soothe rather than shock when so much contemporary club music tips towards uneasy intensity. Finding malleable approaches to their chosen sonics and applying them to intentional song structures, Eerie Enterprise collectively land on a sound that promises a lasting reward for the repeat voyager satisfying headphone gear in the grand tradition of introspective electronic music, but also with a physical immediacy that will manifest in the live set upsammy and Piezo have put together to perform later in the year.

Fourth volume in Dave Huismans' beloved ex_libris series - a tightly focused suite of slowly unfolding, percussive midtempo mosaics. Bare-bones with maximal dynamics, the narratives are driven by rhythm this time. A diversion of sorts, yet very much from the same environment as previous volumes. Alive as ever.

  • Different Horizons
BeatTracker #6 Feat. Banner in Electronica

Electric Rescue's new and eighth - album "Different Horizons" is a surprising opus with some group collaborations with artists such as Abd Al Malik, Amelie Nilles, Gaspar Claus, Boscaro and his brother Maxime Dangles, to be released in October on Laurent Garnier's COD3 QR label. In 2026, its 36 years of activism with passion. Electric Rescue is considered one of the made-in-France pillars of electronic music but also renowned worldwide. A champion of uncompromising techno, Electric Rescue has forged a strong identity within the electronic music landscape. His productions have been released on labels such as Cocoon, Virgo, Arts, F Communications, COD3 QR, Soma, Sci + Tec, Boys Noize, and of course his own label, Skryptom. Also known as a live artist and DJ, he has spent more than two decades traveling the world preaching the good word of techno with both passion and modesty, having had the opportunity to play in mythical clubs including Berghain/Panorama Bar (Berlin), Tresor (Berlin), Weather Festival (France), The Edge (Sao Paulo), Concrete (Paris), Air Club (Tokyo), Moog (Barcelona), Club 69 (Edinburgh) and Amsterdam Dance Event to name just a few. His artistic effervescence is also the result of good Skryptom Records management. As well as running the label, he's involved in organising parties in Paris, with its Skryptom residency at Kilometre 25, Glazart, Rex Club, 1988 live club in Rennes and its famous Play parties in unusual and secret venues around the French capital. Considered a discrete but efficient techno activist, Electric Rescue has been infusing his entire work with the values of the rave scene which he has been adopting and defending (exchanging, sharing, brotherhood, freedom, underground culture), never blinded by the glitz of the DJ business. Across the album, Electric Rescue stretches beyond the confines of straight techno, using rhythm as the anchor for a broader, more cinematic sound. Opener "Screen As Window On World" sets the tone with a slow-burning collision of atmosphere and rhythmic force, before the album moves through darker, more physical terrain. Tracks such as "Les Demons Periodiques", "Camden" and "Colors Community" channel his instinct for hypnotic propulsion, but there is a looseness to the production throughout: percussion splinters and shifts, textures accumulate and dissolve and moments of melody emerge. Elsewhere, "Ce Violent Silence", "Le Marais" and "Imperfection" allow more space in the arrangements, revealing an album of tension, texture and emotional weight as well as dancefloor impact. "Brehat", "Cancale" and "Un Si Joli Printemps" move between electronic details and more expansive, atmospheric passages, while "Her Voice" brings human presence to the foreground, setting an exposed, repeated vocal against intricate electronics and a quietly insistent pulse. By the time "Sur Detre Aime" gives way to the sprawling closing piece "Different Horizons", the album feels like a journey through different environments, abstraction and moments of unexpected beauty, revealing a wider and more personal dimension to his sound. 2026 promises to be another great year for Electric Rescue.
