Not only listening to music, but also to the space between sounds, the silence, and the details that reveal themselves only through careful attention. \nThe original version unfolds through dub textures, subtle traces of jazz, and the space that connects them. Its idea echoes Wynton Marsalis' belief that music always exists for the listener, while the musician becomes the first listener to every composition. Rather than demanding attention, this piece invites it. No rush - no imposed meaning. Just enough space for every listener to discover something of their own.\nIn his remix, Kanama shifts the focus toward broken rhythms while preserving the same sense of attentive listening. The movement becomes more pronounced, yet the space between the elements remains just as essential as the sounds themselves. A different rhythm - the same state.

Release number forty-five comes from Italian producer Bar.ba, showcasing his knack for unique sound design and versatile musicality. Each of the tracks on Timeless offers a nod to the past, present, and future of dance music. Velvet Lathe is the most delicate and sensitive of the lot, flowery melodies intertwining with quirky vocal edits. Mechanical Heart moves into a more angular, abstract realm with dirty bass, edgy textures and complex overtones in a ripping synth lead. Old Workhorse continues in that vein with a strong retro melody forming the foundation of the track as frenetic hi-hats shuffle around the fundamental groove. On remix duties, legendary English producer Nathan Fake offers a swirling, kaleidoscopic interpretation of Velvet Lathe, reworking the vocal samples up to the edge of recognizability in a psychedelic, expansive tapestry of sound. A continuously building crescendo evokes a real sense of exploration, a strong statement of artistic intent from the seasoned producer. Finally, label co-founder Mark Slee turns in a deep tech reworking of Mechanical Heart, his Electric Aorta mix wraps the distinctive lead in evocative textured pads, over a bed of micro-tuned percussion detail.

For the first EP on his new label, Planet Strangelove, Job Jobse brings new life to an overlooked balearic house gem: Pasion, an early 90s deep cut by the Leeds artist Pianoman, inspired by Tangerine Dreams Love On A Real Train, aka the most breathtaking synth arp of all time. Alex Kassian, whose sprawling take on Manuel Göttschingss E2-E4 already showed his fine touch for the kosmische vibe Tangerine Dream embodied, delivers a Dance Mix and a Dream Mix, one packing a club-ready beat, the other drifting weightlessly. London duo The Trip, of the label and party Tesselate, deliver a remix as breezy as it is thumping, all wailing divas, sunkissed pads and shimmering pianos. As for Pianomans Analysis remix, its a dazzling artifact of the balearic era at its peak, touched by the ineffable essence of its time but sounding just as fresh as its modern reinterpretations.

June 2014 - Lenzman's debut album 'Looking At The Stars' on the seminal London-based imprint Metalheadz. The album arrives with all the aplomb you would expect from the Dutch producer. The project concerns itself with all types of human soul- from introspection to confidence to doubt. If there was word you could put to it - it would be honesty. It's certainly a refreshing outlook in this 'fast-food' landscape of modern music that surrounds us.

For no. 49, Kiosk ID welcomes Argentina-born, Mexico-based producer and member of Buenos Aires sound collective Amancay, Matias Rocha. Under the moniker Golden Hour, Matias delivers a restlessly energetic four-tracker that cycles through a blooming bouquet of nightlife energies. With a guest appearance from Kiosk ID returnee Marvio on the closing cut, 'Open Room' is an eclectic and warmly enveloping exploration of the many vibrant forms dancefloor energy can take. 'Welcome Drink' opens in medias res. An ambient hum of blending voices and clinking glasses dissolves into a body-moving, no-frills percussive groove anchored by an infectiously sexy bassline. Atmospheric dub chords deepen the mood, while brightly chirping organs and blippy pulse waves crackle above the surface with footwork-inflected vivacity. Artfully playing with the anticipatory energies of a young, seemingly endless night, 'Welcome Drink' extends a warmly pulsing, body-moving invitation. 'The Green Giant' is the EP's most genre-agnostic moment, merging trip-hop rhythms, spaced-out saxophones, electric, brass-inspired synth work, and modern, soulful vocal chops into a blissfully life-affirming groover. Warm and modern, the track artfully navigates varied aesthetics without ever losing its footing-even folding in flickers of acid that surface and recede like a high-energy undercurrent beneath the track's playful, uplifting surface. 'This Room' strips everything back. Built around a deceptively simple but powerfully driving mono-tonal piano loop, the track finds its power in reduction-dense and intimate, with a clubby joie de vivre that draws the listener into a hypnotic dancefloor seance. Midway through, wildly pitching sirens push the track's elements to their energetic brink, before the loop recenters, resuming a dense, kinetic pulse. Closing cut 'What Laser' brings Marvio into the fold for the EP's most physically charged moment. Clanking resonances, wildly pitching sirens, and cascading percussive figures that blur the line between rhythm and melody ratchet the energy upward in jittering salvos, while a single-note pulsing bass provides a subby counterweight to the blossoming sonic landscape above. Ghostly pads drift through the background like spectral residue, anchoring the track's kinetic complexity in a beautiful and eclectic strangeness. Across four tracks that move from anticipation over hypnotism to pure physicality, Golden Hour delivers an eclectic and beautifully sequenced EP that showcases the full range of his forward-thinking sound. 'Open Room' is exactly that-an inviting space for every energy the night has to offer.
