Argentinian artist BORDA returns to 3rd Avenue with Elysium, a twelve-track album that marks the most expansive chapter of his journey with the Sound Avenue family so far. Having previously appeared on Future Avenue and 3rd Avenue, including this year's We Are The Future compilation, BORDA has steadily shaped a musical identity rooted in progressive house while drawing inspiration from far beyond the genre. His background of influences ranging from classic rock and alternative music to electronic pioneers has always brought a distinctive sense of atmosphere and emotion to his productions, but on Elysium that palette opens up considerably. Across the album, BORDA moves naturally between progressive house, melodic house and a more introspective ambient side that reveals a different dimension to his work. Rather than simply gathering a collection of tracks, Elysium feels conceived as one complete listening experience, with moments of rhythm and momentum balanced by spacious passages that allow the music to breathe. Tracks such as Prometheus, Ariadna, Calipso, Dionisio, Helios, Ares and Hades carry the melodic drive at the heart of BORDA's sound, while the ambient interpretations of Nix, Selene, Zephyrus and Ares shift the perspective towards something more cinematic and reflective. The title track Elysium ultimately brings the twelve-track journey full circle. There is a clear sense of growth running throughout the record. The melodic language and progressive foundations that introduced BORDA to the label remain present, but they now sit inside a much broader musical landscape. The contrast between club-oriented material and ambient compositions gives Elysium its character, allowing energy, restraint, melody and atmosphere to coexist without losing the thread that connects them. It is an album that shows an artist becoming increasingly comfortable exploring beyond the boundaries of his established sound.
