Jahbulon EP is here to usher in a new era in the Seven-Headed project. Consisting of seven tracks sourced from different periods, reaching back to the earlier days of the Dutch producer and guitarist's career, Jahbulon tells a sonically haunting tale, steeped in symbolism and themes that open a window into his world. Some tracks have existed for over five years, repeatedly reworked to Seven-Headed's liking until they finally felt fit for release. Steering clear of trends and mainstream demand, they connect through a web of meaning, style and other dots known only to Seven-Headed himself. Finding a natural balance between the tracks' tempos, energies and different directions while maintaining a very personal and experimental touch, Jahbulon comes together as a complete and mature debut EP, finally crowning Seven-Headed after years of hitting all the notes. Seven-Headed has been connected to SubCulture since its first event and release, and this larger body of work marks the moment when the label's longest-running artist leaves his 'up-and-coming' status behind. Spooky, macabre atmospheres meet a sonic language stemming from his roots in metal and rock, backed by the technical ability to create bass music that cannot be captured within one genre. Demonic entities, guitar riffs, funky and playfully layered bass designs, absolute mosh-pit energy, Romanian folklore and late-Victorian motifs alternate while remaining part of the same story. With production and mastering handled by Matthijs himself, Jahbulon gives the clearest view of the Seven-Headed sound so far. The opening track, Premonition, puts the writing on the wall through a short, ominous preview of the EP's occult themes and rock- and metal-flavoured instrumentation. It is followed by Christine, the first single of the EP, named after the Stephen King novel: drum and bass ready to possess you with frightening keys and strings, and a bass growling like it is hungry for your soul. Underneath it all, the guitar slowly creeps in, culminating in an outro where the chords take centre stage. Next station: Aldgate. Taking you back to London almost 140 years ago, this dubstep-meets-metal headbanger rips and shatters everything that crosses its shadow. Inspired by Seven-Headed's visit to the area in 2022, its second drop releases the tension through cathartic guitar riffs built to cause ripples. Ashmedai is said to be a demonic figure, trapped inside a waveform for eternity. The track walks the line between an inward listening experience and relentless, raw drum and bass energy for the floors. Its funky and playfully layered bass designs toy with you over tightly knit percussion, a combination that has already caused its fair share of enthusiastic reactions in the wild. Moroi follows with another absolute burst of force from the Seven-Headed vaults. The instrumentation and detailed sound design create a stand-off followed by a rain of bullets made from low frequencies and provocative riffs. As one of the EP's more recent creations, it brings these elements together in a form that feels both familiar and newly sharpened. Scholomance contrasts this with room to breathe. Directly inspired by the alleged school of necromancy from Transylvanian folklore, it is one of the earliest Seven-Headed tracks, with a listening-oriented core that received many tweaks and touches without losing its original spooky skeleton. The result feels like meticulously layered bass music wobbling through a dimly lit dungeon, held together by faint echoes and sharp snaps. The closing title track, Jahbulon, served as the closer to many of Seven-Headed's early shows. It reveals the more atmospheric energy within the project, letting subtle guitar textures and patient tension take control. With its ceremonial, almost divine take on drum and bass, it makes for a fitting end to the dance, leaving space for the next era to blossom.

In what could well be described as an 'all star' linkup, Sam Binga links with Machinedrum and Cesco for the 'Niche Flex'. Bringing together three producers with distinct but overlapping approaches to club music, Niche Flex explores the increasingly fluid relationship between UK Garage, Broken Beat and Soundsystem Bassweight from one side of the Atlantic, and the rhythmic language of US Club music on the other. Swing, sub pressure and a distinctly UK-flavoured dancefloor focus meets the rhythmic energy and percussion of contemporary American Club sounds, creating something that feels rooted in both traditions without sitting neatly inside either. That transatlantic connection runs naturally through the artists involved, whether that be Sam Binga's Bristol foundations and long-standing dialogue with US club music, Machinedrum's impeccable history of pulling UK and American rhythmic forms into the same orbit, or Cesco's forward-facing take on UK bass. Released on vinyl and digital, 'Niche Flex' continues Pineapple Records' focus on collaborative, genre-fluid club music built for cutting edge DJs and dances, without ever being confined to a single lane.
