US-based Barry Jamieson made his name as half of Evolution and co-owner of Fluid Records back in the 90s. Now an accomplished studio engineer, he has a Grammy nomination and top 40 hits under his belt as well as a storied history in the underground. Sydney-based, Return to Rio resident and producer Tristan Case has had quite a journey since relocating from the UK as a jobbing musician and self-taught DJ. Together with fellow Brit, Tom Barlow, the pair launched their production careers with Dorse on onedotsixtwo. They have gone on to have exciting solo careers signing music to a number of high profile imprints. In original form Clinken Haus opens in warm effervesence. Twinkly arps and a sparse percussive framework greets you like a familiar friend before veering off into the wonky and weird. Ebbing and flowing without ever really needing a break, the audio story it tells is one of joyous abandon and carefree enjoyment. A work of art. Delivering the goods for the next Sudbeat instalment its the label very own Graziano Raffa who dons his producer hat again for the Sparking Plugs EP. An addict to DJ culture, the Italian managed to build a reputation within the scene thanks to his tireless work behind the curtains of the label but not only that. Always blending all shapes of house and techno, his productions and dj sets helped him to reach some of the finest spots within the nightlife Eden, boasting appearances in top venues like Stereo, Warung, Ministry of Sound, Forja, Nom or Barutana, just to name a few. Opening with Sparking Plugs a bumpty beat and carefully layered percussion reveals delicate samba-esque rhythms. As the bass drops the track toughens up for the dancefloor in fine form. Disco synth and airy orchestral pads fill the mid section as the track reaches fever pitch ready for the final drive for the finish. Love Stories takes a deeper path. Stripped back percs and a spiky bass add low end grunt, while pretty arp flurries and vibing keys are like mind candy for the soul. Finally One More Star delves deep into dubby prog territory. A total journeyman track, each new element adds soul and class.
