We welcome Paul Matic back to Piston Recordings with his newest offering, Past Tense. A talented producer and multi-instrumentalist, Pauls connection to house music traces back to the late 80s, when the gritty pulse of acid house first captured his imagination. Since then, hes immersed himself fully in the genre, crafting a sound that bridges classic influences with contemporary depth and sophistication. From 2016 onward, Paul has continued to impress with a steady stream of quality releases across respected deep and tech house imprints. Following his previous Piston outing, Neva Falt This Way, this new release highlights his ongoing artistic progression. Were always excited to be part of his journey and eager to see where his evolving vision leads next. Past Tense gets us underway with mesmerizing arpeggio notes, intertwined with distant, intriguing vocal shots that immediately draw you in. Airy atmospheric textures set a spacious backdrop as punchy kick drums and crisp hi-hats establish a driving, hypnotic groove. A pulsating bassline anchors the rhythm, while soft piano motifs add subtle melodic warmth. As the track unfolds, layers build and interlock, evolving into a vibrant, infectious dancefloor mover that captivates from start to finish. Italian artist Luca La Greca, better known as Lucalag, returns to Piston Recordings with the fantastic Fly Mode. Luca first uncovered his passion for DJing at the age of 18, diving deep into the worlds of house and deep house, where his unique touch quickly won over both crowds and fellow artists. His craft has been shaped on the dancefloors of respected Italian venues including La Casa Sul Fiume, Syncopate, Le Folies du Plaisir, and Colazione da Tiffany, each playing a role in refining his vibrant musical identity. Since 2020, he has been steadily rising through the ranks with quality releases on labels such as DHF Records, Houph, Cross Land Music, Moiss Music Black, M-Soi Records, and Oh So Coy Records. Were delighted to welcome him back to the label once again. Fly Mode opens the release with a chunky, full-bodied kick drum, snappy clicks, and shimmering hats that lock into a crisp rhythmic groove. Sweeping FX glide through the background, adding depth and atmosphere as warm, breathing chords spread across the mix. Since venturing into production in 2007, he has built an impressive catalogue defined by rich, sophisticated grooves. With his refined signature sound and seasoned craftsmanship, were delighted to have him back for another outstanding contribution to the label. This Change kick the release off, opening with organic drums that sets a natural, inviting groove. Beneath the rhythm, soft modulating pads shimmer, creating an atmospheric foundation. As the groove builds, warm, elongated bass tones gently rise to the surface, adding depth and movement as a distinct vocal cuts through the texture, becoming the emotional centrepiece of the mix. The pads grow more prominent as the track evolves, blooming into rich melodic soundscapes that guide the us into a deep, immersive flow.
