It's always a special moment when Bombstrikes release a new Bass Funk album and the sixth instalment is no exception with the enigmatic Tom Booze taking on curation duties. The mystery producer has picked up an army of devotees and major playlist support for his signature cocktail of bass, P-Funk, and electronica, showcasing his incredible production skills and encyclopaedic musical knowledge, making him the perfect choice to give his take on the much-loved album series. As a connoisseur of all things Bass Funk, the standard was expected to be high but the perfectly curated track listing featuring so many exclusive new tracks has resulted in Tom Booze delivering something way beyond. The assembled album is forward-thinking and breaks new ground with the music sweeping across tempos, taking things deeper, heavier and more rhythmical but also funkier at times and is all done with the original ethos of the series. From the moment you see the track list, it is obvious Tom Booze has gone all out on this project. There is a multitude of new music from the man himself, so much so that there can be no doubting this is his album! These sit alongside exclusive collaborations with legends such as A.Skillz and Nick Thayer. Heavyweights of the Bass music scene are in attendance in the form of music from such luminaries as Thys (Noisia) & Two Fingers (AKA Amon Tobin), Opiuo, KOAN Sound, Krafty Kuts & PAV4N (Foreign Beggers). The Midtempo Electronica sound is also taken care of with the addition of Haywyre, The Funk Hunters & Kotek, Fort Knox 5 & Lazy Syrup Orchestra, with label favourites Ninjula, Lack Jemmon, and Dubra. The album track listing stands tall on its own merits but Tom doesn't leave it there! He has also whipped things up into a genre-melting, all-out music cocktail of a DJ mix, showcasing the music skills that have placed Mr Booze as one of the most exciting producers out there right now. A timeless edition for the collection.
Bazza Ranks and Turnstyle link up with UK legend Dynamite MC on Take A Chance, a carefully crafted fusion of disco funk and hip hop. Drawing on post-disco and early electronic funk influences, the track is built around a standout bassline, with guitar hooks and percussive elements placed to lock into a tight, infectious groove. Dynamite MC brings his signature flow to the verses, tipping his hat to early hip hop party anthems, while also taking on chorus duties with a smooth vocal delivery. The result is a fresh, floor-focused jam that feels modern yet nostalgic enough not to feel out of place at an 80s roller disco. Turnstyle: Wed been listening to some classic, funky disco tracks and thought it would be great to create something with that same vibe, but with a modern production twist. Thats when Take A Chance was born. Weve always loved those early disco-rap records too, so getting Dynamite MC involved felt like the perfect fit. He came back within a day with the full vocal, blowing us away with his lyrics and performance. From there, everything just clicked, and we ended up with a track that really captures the old-school disco-rap feel we were going for.
