At the tail end of 2021 DJ Godfather released 'This Detroit Thing Of Ours'. Like his 'Electro Beats For Freaks' album the previous year, it featured an abundance of tracks which segued into one another 46 tracks in total with a running time of nearly 2 hours. This is a man who likes to break all the album rules! Full of variety, the album covered genres like Electro, Techno, House and Ghetto Tech alongside collaborations with DJ Deeon, Goodmoney G100, King Saaidi, Gettoblaster & Missy, Lil Mz 313, Ricky Burns, JPE, Parkhouse and Dan Diamond. Revisiting that epic album, DJ Godfather is releasing a series of EPs which feature full length versions, alternative mixes, acapellas and instrumentals of some of those tracks.
DJ Godfather maintains his roll of releases into 2026 with the classic Detroit electro stylings of Sporadic. Following the straight up jit, battle footwork-attack of Decembers Square Up EP and this Februarys Thats Right (313) with its electro, jit and footwork dance-off, Godfather gives us three tracks of classic Detroit electro/techno. Whilst the title track is impeccable, battle-hardened Detroit electro its also accompanied by a more techno friendly 909 Mix for more straight-up 4/4 floors and closes with the discordant electronic space-oddity that is Stranger Than Strange. Another masterclass from the D.
Taking a brief hiatus from releasing on his own label, DJ Godfather hands over the production reigns to Plus Size Models for the next EP on Databass. Detroits Plus Size Models (a.k.a. Chris Sutton) describes himself as Ghetto Booty lovin House jacking Techno pushing Bass Lover, which hes proven through his DJ sets over the last 18 years, and much more recently via releases on labels like Dirtybird (where he made his track debut in 2019) and Spoon Fed Records (earlier this year). Delivering a fresh take on the Jit sound, with boundless energy, the EP opens with Fort Street Jit before the quirky Cork Town. Meanwhile the other two tracks Slipping and The Jam head further into ghettotech territory with a techno twist.
Databass Records Bass / Club
Following the straight up electro attack of Time Is Just Beginning and the booty funk of the Make Your Body Jerk EP featuring Chicago House don DJ Deeon (RIP), Detroit turntablist, producer and Databass label owner, DJ Godfather shows another string to his producition bow with the footwork frenzy of Square Up. Taking it back to the streets these three hard, no-nonsense ghetto tech tracks are primed for Jit battling!
Databass Records Bass / Club
Following the booty funk of the Make Your Body Jerk EP featuring Chicago House don DJ Deeon (RIP) this time Detroit turntablist, producer and Databass label owner, DJ Godfather goes solo into full blast electro territory with Time Is Just Beginning. Featuring the floor rocking title track and the Detriot techno / electro vibes of both Manic and Takeover, Godfather takes it back to the source, as always with his added unique twist.
