Bio: Danny Bonnici and Luke Chable are very familiar with each other's studios. In 2003, they collaborated to produce the ebullient classic 'Ride, ' arguably the standout release in underground dance that year. Almost a decade passed before they rekindled their partnership, resulting in 'Colours, ' a delightful 2012 release that wears its whimsical heart on its charming sleeve. Fast forward to 2024, and Balance is proud to re release this gem with a fresh round of remixes, featuring Dutch star Alex O'Rion and a breakbeat re rub by Danny Bonnici. If 'Ride' epitomized care free mid 00's prog, 'Colours' is imbued with the spirit of 2012. It's a radiant drive atop a sunlit melody and kaleidoscopic tones that will embed itself deep into your psyche. Drawing inspiration from the more vogue ish releases of that year, the brilliance of 'Colours' lies in its light hearted clarity: a stonking drum section and a melodic motif that lingers in you like a pleasant memory. Today, 'Colours' feels as nostalgic as it's vital; a love letter to a time we never knew would pass us by, or at worst, an invocation of a pre Covid era that seems a million miles away. Danny Bonnici revisits his breakbeat roots with a delightful re rub, paying homage to an era when progressive breaks reigned king. Skittering snares and shuffling hats play off each other; the percussion contrasting sharply against the consistently moving bellow of the Hoover like bass. Keeping the original melody front centre, it eventually explodes post breakdown into a dizzying arpeggiated variation. If you want to know why Danny Bonnici is considered a breakbeat don, look no further. Dutchman Alex O'Rion extends his streak of platinum productions with a refined update. By using warmer tones to soften the edges, the energy is burnished with more tranquil textures. The melody is framed by warm risers and smart fx that engage in playful interaction, whilst a casual bass line dances in complete flow with the melody. All the parts add up to a joyous progressive union a beautiful organic dance that never feels contrived.

Bio: GMJ & Matter need little introduction to the underground dance cognoscenti. In demand producers and DJs with a beguiling sound that defines modern progressive house, the Australian duo return to Balance Music with their 'Helioflow' EP. Both prodigious artists in their own rights with a slew of high profile releases to their name, the Australian duo first came to prominence as a collaborative force with their May 2016 'Superposition' EP on Proton Music. Since then, GMJ & Matter have continued to see their careers hit stratospheric heights as international DJs, producers and label owners. Now returning to Balance Music for the first time since 2019's 'Emerge' EP, alongside fellow countryman, FunkForm, the 'Helioflow' title track is a glorious modern progressive house gem. Full of trademark production characteristics, a heavy kick and hypnotic percussive groove lays the foundation for swirling white noise fuelled pads to rise and fall gently. Before long, a filtered synth line enters the fray liberally coated in sweeping delays and cavernous reverb. Evolving easily to the mid point, textured elements and motifs combine in a haunting breakdown before the powerful rhythmic foundation drops back in to create a pulsating closing movement. Imagine sitting on a high rise building with your legs dangling from the edge—that's the adventure on offer in 'Skyline Depth. ' The drum section takes you on an enveloping ride through shuffling hats and tightly bound percussion, all accentuated by dream like synths and samples awash in the most glorious reverb. The journey culminates in a sensational breakdown, where balmy, mirage haze melodies rise in the distance. This is a track to share with friends on early morning dancefloors as the sun rises.

The lead single from the album, 'Make This Disappear' features experienced vocalist Quivver on lead vocals…and even has Dave Seaman making his debut behind the mic contributing backing vocals. A first after more than three decades of making music. There is also particular excitement about Dave Seaman's highly sought after, previously unreleased remix of Underworld's 'Low Burn', which gets its long overdue release here. Exclusive tracks come from some of the hottest electronic music producers, from the fabulous Einmusik, through to Robert Babicz, Gai Barone, Dee Montero, Timo Maas, and the wonderful Just Her, amongst many other quality artists. Quivver explains: "With DJ Mixes two a penny these days online, we really wanted to create something special that would stand out from the crowd and stand the test of time. " Dave Seaman adds: "Much of modern music culture is so disposable in today's digital era, so when we were offered the opportunity to hark back to the halcyon days of the mix compilation and make an album as a physical product again, we jumped at the chance. The Balance Mix series is one of the most respected out there, so it's an honour to become part of their 20 year history. It was a true labour of love which we hope comes across when you press play, "
