Where the dancefloor becomes a laboratory for the conducting of funky house experiments, Traduzca sounds good in any language. Colombian king of the beats Jholeyson (Sticker Music), returning Clarisse producer Un Padre (Clarisse vol 9, the Yo Tengo EP) and Belgrade noise bringer Dimitri J (Footworks) are the triple team on top with this tantalising piece of Clarisse technology. Powered up by synth stabs sounding like the trio are going hard on the joypad, the computerised edge and quicksilver beats of Traduzca bring big time bounce with a ruthless streak, sure to earn hit status with disco divas, dons and those that love to level up. Literally creating its own buzz with the fizz running through it, horn blasts sound off in the distance, bringing everyone to attention like a strict samba fanfare. Vocals keep the vibe beach-bound as the Mediterranean flavour gets electrified until Traduzca is on everyones lips: trust the process.
Tech house often gets labelled as dumb. Its no surprise; there are some stupid tech tracks right now. But what gets overlooked is that, when done well, its simplicity is one of its superpowers. No one exemplifies that more than Miguel Bastida. A master of the simple yet brilliant hook, Bastida has been delivering titanic three-note totems to an adoring DJ crowd since 2008. Starting on his and Ruiz dBs Be One label and quickly joining other scene-setting imprints like La Pera and elRow, he soon got the attention of all the big DJ-friendly labels. By now, his discography reads like a whos who of the biggest tech labels: Hellbent, Sola, Suara, Deeperfect, Natura Viva, etc. For his GU debut, he sticks to what he does best and delivers a rolling percussive groove with minimal flourishes and maximum heads-down groove. Add a raucous ragga vocal on the drops, and youve got a peak-time rave banger. Thunderous!

Vacaxiones is a version of the Feid hit that Cloonee has also been hammering (check his Instagram for countless slides of it going off!). Chris Lorenzo breathes new life into Laidback Lukes legendary electro hit, Break Down The House. Bringing it back to 2008, the beloved weapon in Lukes catalogue historically marked the final era of an exciting exploratory period of house music, before the EDM heyday of the 2010s took over. With Chris Lorenzos treatment the underrated weapon from Lukes catalogue emerges more timeless than ever. Laidback Luke is a name that needs no introduction. As one of the most influential artists to emerge from late 2000s house music, the Dutch producer began his multi-faceted career in the early 90s, and cemented his place in music history with his chart-topping rework of the Robin S. classic, Show Me Love. Heads will know, though, that the bag always runs deeper than the radio hits when it comes to the real ones, and Break Down The House is the proof in Lukes case. With Chris Lorenzos remix of the heralded ID comes a symbolic passing of the torch for Luke, cementing his legacy status in the arena. Initially introduced over email, Lorenzo got his hands on the stems for the original, and tried to hash out his version in the same 4-hour fashion that Luke did back in the day. The end result is a nostalgic weapon that has, so far, only been in the hands of Chris Lake and FISHER, who debuted Lorenzos version during their b2b set at HARD Festival. At the intersection of two distinct eras in contemporary house music, Chris Lorenzo and Laidback Luke come together to deliver a monster record that ties together past, present, and future.
Fun and bumpy house that sharpens your sugar levels and cranks up your cardio regime, Shape Up wants to hear your body talk. Calling the tune is Clarisse newcomer Riaz Dhanani, a London mover and shaker showing off an impressive number of respected label layovers, and with Ibiza and Amsterdam residencies underlining whos the boss as a physical educator. Also with the UKs premier venues under his command and Groove Armada and Solardo giving Riaz the royal seal of approval, Shape Up wont be slacking when it comes to going at house playlists. With 80s sweatbands and spandex clearly in view, going up against chit-chatter itching to jump in the pool fully clothed, Shape Up is the moment the floodgates open and everyone gets caffeinated. Down to business with a jumping jack of a bassline, Dhananis organisation of thrusting chord blasts, those vocals getting you to feel the burn and all round funky house energy forever in the ascendancy, Shape Up is a six-minute personal best.
In the nearly 20 years of Dirtybird, weve always enjoyed finding new artists and putting out one of, if not their very first, records. From Catz n Dogz, to Eats Everything, to Riva Starr, to Julio Bashmore, to Fisher, to John Summit, to Walker & Royce, to Cour T. and many others, we prefer to find new artists rather than chase them. Heres another debut to add…..Jaffys Move To The Beat is a driving, high energy track that sounds like hes been putting out music for ages.
Romanian house duo Sllash & Doppe return to Toolroom with a very special record to soundtrack the tail-end of Summer 2024. These guys shot to fame with the massive tribal club anthem Aguella back in 2018 that saw the likes of Claptone, HUGEL and Fatboy Slim hammering it in their sets. Fast forward to present day and the lads are back with another future tribal anthem with a very familiar riff; Made famous by the Michael Cleis version, but originally written by Toto La Momposina, this entire composition of flutes, vocals, drums and percussion have all been totally rewritten and recreated in a tiny Colombian village which gives the record a brand new, raw, live element that sounds incredible! Sllash & Doppe bring this right up to date and it drops just in time for those Ibiza closing parties!
