Alex Andrikopolous AKA Lex (Athens) released his brilliant debut album Waving in 2022 on Leng and he now returns with an EP combining fine remixes of tracks from Waving alongside two new previously unheard cuts. The remixes are undeniably special. Fittingly, the EP begins with the first of these, a sensationally sun-soaked revision of one of Andrikopolous's most Balearic moments – previous single 'Punta Allen' – by former Nuphonic fusionists and FAR label founders Faze Action. The Lee brothers' take is one of those sunset-friendly workouts that wraps glistening guitar licks, steel pan style motifs, Lex's gorgeous lead lines, hazy electric piano solos and life-affirming keyboard riffs around rolling nu-disco beats and a new rubbery bassline courtesy of Robin Lee himself. It has the feel of a pool-side anthem in the making. Just as potent is the typically quirky and hard-to-pigeonhole revision of 'Prezend' by Manchester maverick Ruf Dug. Here he offers up a genuinely revolutionary rework, re-imaging the track as a sparse-but-colourful fusion of vintage acid house bass, saucer-eyed piano riffs, dubbed-out synth sounds, jacking lo-fi drum machine beats and squelchy TB-303 tweaks. While fresh and undeniably contemporary, the remix has an alluringly nostalgic, retro-futurist vibe. Clustered around these two top-notch revisions is a pair of previously unreleased Lex originals. He joins forces with regular collaborator Locke once more on 'Libre De Amor', an infectious chunk of, low-slung dub disco marked out by weighty bass, jammed-out electric piano motifs, spacey pads, intergalactic effects and mazy synth solos. Dotted with additional percussion hits and echoing female vocal snippets, it's one of the pair's most potent dancefloor workouts of recent times. To round off a rock-solid EP, the Athens-based veteran blurs the boundaries between stripped-back, late-80s house nostalgia and nu-disco. 'Super Awake' boasts cowbell-sporting Chicago house beats and acid house inspired bass, on to which he's layered all manner of colourful synth sounds, jangly piano stabs and spacey electronics. Throw in some typically immersive chords and progressively more psychedelic TB-303 motifs, and you have a genuinely triumphant conclusion to a formidably floor-focused EP.

Sgt Slick's phat Nu Disco style has been killing for the past few years and what better way to celebrate that than to go back to his first ever release with Vicious. His now classic "White Treble, Black Bass", which won the ARIA for Best Dance Release way back in 1998, has been treated to a new Discotizer update from the man himself. This new version brings all of the elements and appeal of the award winning original, but updates it with Slick's current production prowess. A phat groove, stacks of hooks and THAT sax … Get it on and turn it up!!!

We were delighted when Doche sent in his first demo of this song. Despite Kevin living in London, we are still a Scottish label with our registered office in Glasgow. The original recording of this song (by the Average White Band and produced by Arif Mardin) has to be one of the greatest disco tracks conceived by the Scots [1975 US disco chart #11]. So having one of our artists create a new recording for 2024 makes us very proud. Doche takes Hamish Stuart & Roger Ball's guitar & sax melodies and re-wires them to a hot nu-disco beat. We've seen this one in action, and it goes off on the dancefloor. If you're a fan of Purple Disco Machine, this is for you.
Everybody's Hugging the Horse is the second - and frankly enormous - single to come from Jem 'Stone' Panufnik's upcoming epic musical book, The Legend of Kaptain Karnival. Proper chunky, twisted, freaky low-slung disco, it's a galumphing psychedelic stomp with the return on horn section duties by the incredible Dom Glover (Brand New Heavies, Primal Scream, Groove Armada and currently Norman Jay's Good Times Band). All this coming from the audio-visual funk-toon pioneer who brought you Finger Lickin' Records and more, this horse is for saddling up and riding into oblivion.

Not forgetting the uplifting piano hook and stratospheric Solina and Moog solos, designed to elevate the dance floor to ecstasy. There is a specially crafted dub mix on the flip side that explores the Fender Rhodes, bass and guitar parts and includes euphoric feedback delay, destined to transport us to another dimension.

Formed in 2019, Lawne is the result of a meeting of minds between old friends and self confessed music nerds Joe Nicklin and Joe Martin. Their sound draws upon myriad influences with dub, electronics, hip hop, psych, jazz, post-punk and Afrobeat all somehow ingrained within the mix. Heather's Leather, the second single to be taken from the pair's debut LP, due for release in the autumn, is ina similar vein to previous singleBeta Panin that it has distinctly different A&B sections. The duo wanted to shift through the gears even quicker this time though, so they looked for inspiration from opposite ends of the pool, as Joe Martin explains: "Heather's Leatherwas something of an anomaly on the album in how quickly it all came together. I'd written the original chord progression on piano years prior but never got round to developing it into a full tune; the switch between the A and B sections feels quite drastic because there's a change in tempo and key centre, something that we hadn't experimented with before. I was obsessed with the opening track from Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino,Star Treatment. You can hear its influence on the first part of the track and Joe's drumming compliments the feel of it perfectly." Joe Nicklin goes on, "We'd learned from the pandemic that working remotely really suited us. You get time to mull over ideas and not run away with things, especially when there's no added pressure of being on the clock in a studio. Joe (Martin) sent me the song and it was already really far down the line. He usually adds some placeholder midi drums but this time he hadn't. It's usually nice to have the midi drums to set you on your way, but I think only being able to work solely off the synths and guitars forced me to come up with something I otherwise wouldn't have, especially for the B section. You find yourself being reminded of an artist when hearing the demo and then asking 'what would their drummer do?'" Comparing Lawne's sound to that of Mildlife, Nu Genea, Harvey Sutherland and Khruangbin wouldn't be far off the mark, but such contemporaries form only part of the duo's sonic soundscape as Fela Kuti, The Beach Boys and Herbie Hancock also weigh heavy on their repertoire, as Joe Nicklin explains: "I had been working mainly as a live session drummer for a few years and missed being able to get my teeth into a project of my own, collaborating and building something that reflects my influences from the ground up. I knew Joe (Martin) a bit from home in North Oxfordshire but we reconnected after both moving to London and decided to start sending ideas back and forth shortly after. Originally we set out to make dance music with live instrumentation, but a shared love of psychedelic, jazz-funk and hip hop eventually saw our music also reflect these styles." Joe Martin goes on, "I'd been engaged on a solo electronic project for a few years but soon began to miss working collaboratively and writing music with instruments rather than creating solely on a laptop. I knew Joe from home and when he asked if I wanted to get together to make some music, it seemed like the perfect time. We've spent the last couple of years exploring different sounds and trying our best to work outside of our comfort zone; listening to a wider range of material as well as incorporating that into our own music." Is it Balearic? Quite possibly. Lawne's debut album will be released in November 2024 on Wah Wah 45s.

Longtime friends and musical collaborators Max Essa and Eddie C join the RNT fold with a 4 tracker of melancholic and exquisitely produced chilled out disco. Begun as a lockdown project, the We Live In The Hills EP explores a vast palette of sonic soundscapes, from the shimmering guitars and acid lines of Melon Stepping, to the insistent rolling bass and whimsical synths of Save Me, the deep funk of the EP's title track, and the late nite driving soundtrack stylings of Sixth Bridge. This EP tells a hopeful story of emerging from isolation and doubt, like a lovely musical sunrise after a long dark night.

X-Ray Ted delivers a heavyweight slice of funk in the form of 'Dance With Me', offering a tantalising glimpse into what his forthcoming debut album has in store. The Bristol producer has once again deftly merged the timeless allure of vintage funk with the energy of modern production. Swaggering horn hooks combine with rolling beats, guitar licks and hip-hop refrains to create the perfect musical bed for the anthemic and soul-infused vocals of fellow Bristolian Carys Abigail. It's no surprise at all that this one already has the Craig Charles seal of approval by featuring in his prestigious BBC 6 Music 'future funk tracks of 2024' show. XRT: 'Dance With Me' is an ode to the excitement of a new relationship; putting yourself at risk for the potential of incredible reward. Those driving horns scream of promise, and the big slappy drums represent confidence and solidity of intention. As a title, 'Dance With Me' is just as much an invitation as it is a mission statement for the lead-out single of my debut album.
Monologues boss Ben Gomori's edits of African classics for Sterns Edits and Africa Seven have won fans far and wide, with DJs from Optimo to Hunee, Folamour, Horse Meat Disco and TSHA getting behind them. He continues this acclaimed body of work with this new release, carving up two gems and adding a little juice to them in the process. First up, a joyous slice of 1980s Camerooon from Emmanuel Kahe Et Jeanette Kemogne on 'Ye Medjuie', where rousing trumpet refrains meet undulating bass funk. Then the deep dubby skank of Nigeria's Akaba Man & The African Pride's 'Popular Side' goes on a Metro Area-flavoured excursion with distorted Melodica blasts rubbing up against a sweet-but-trippy synth solo and haunting vox synths.

Then the deep dubby skank of Nigeria's Akaba Man & The African Pride's 'Popular Side' goes on a Metro Area-flavoured excursion with distorted Melodica blasts rubbing up against a sweet-but-trippy synth solo and haunting vox synths.

Polifonic Records presents Dirty Love EP - A sonic odyssey that blends old-school vibes with new-school charm. Milan, Italy - Polifonic Records, the record label affiliated with the festival of the same name, is excited to announce the highly anticipated release of its seventh vinyl release. Scheduled for release on the 19th of April, this project is a masterpiece of collaboration, fusing two acts that epitomise Polifonic's trademark sound. The revered Dirty Channels - pioneers of Italian house music - with the cutting-edge sound-vision of Eternal Love, representing the new wave of Italian house and disco. Dirty Channels, with their roots deep in the history of house music, join forces with Eternal Love, representing the innovative wave of the Italian house scene. The result is a harmonious blend that pays homage to the past while propelling the genre into the future. To highlight the release, the remix by Gerd Janson, an artist already connected to Polifonic, added great value. "The Dirty Love EP" marks the union of the artists' creative minds, but also a blend of Old School - New School: is not just a meeting of musical minds, but reflected in both the production and the soundscape. The release conquers with a new take on Italo House, giving it a modernised edge: a reinterpretation of Italo House, enhanced by world music influences, thanks to Mariseya's vocals. The tracks smell of summer, offering a light and uplifting atmosphere - a perfect link to the spirit of the Polifonic Festival.
Rubber People return to Vicious alongside Super Disco Club with vocal led house/disco flip 'Body Movin'. 'Body Movin' teases repeating vocals as string stabs cut and FX swirl to a drive home pumping bass to unleash the groove. Diving back in with Vicious, Rubber People & Super Disco Club have really dialled the disco thumper meter to 100. This fun and bouncy track feels like it's an apple that has fallen from the same tree that produced Duck Sauce releases and Boney M's viral tune 'Rasputin'. This one is sure to re-trigger the disco love from deep inside and bring those emotions out on the dance floor
High Park Funk's new "Permeate Tape" on Blaq Numbers is the third instalment of tape-based funk from the Scottish funkster known locally as Tesko. This one has some heavy features. Scotland's jazz cat Ewan Hastie on slap bass. Modern Funkateers Brett Eclectic and Duktus both on some silky remixes and a vocal feature from Bay Area rhymer Nico Fasho. The tape welcomes us in and sends us off with one with a voice note from one of the UK's longest serving members of the Poppin community, WMP. With a positive message of rising up and keeping that funk alive. The tape itself has a concept of letting funk permeate your being. With the idea spanning from the great George Clinton and the P-Funk family, where funk is more than a genre of a music, it's an entire philosophy. For Tesko, the funk is about being rooted and grounded. It's an antithesis to the uptight, stiff upper lip society a lot of us navigate through within many cities across the UK and the wider western world. It's a reminder that letting loose and letting the funk not only 'move' but 're-move', can liberate and recalibrate us right down to a molecular level - bringing right back down to that ancestral level where we all came from. That 'One Nation Under Groove' type deal. Expect vintage drum machines, synths bass lines, hard slaps, talk boxing and saxophone melodies throughout. Tesko has pushed the envelope on his musicianship on this one and is certainly not faking the funk here. "Permeate" is a testament to the artistry, resilience, and passion that High Park Funk brings to the global modern funk scene.

"Freak Out For Fitness" is a fitness anthem, a pulsating new wave disco funk affair written by FSQ's Chuck Da Fonk and One Era that should evoke the soundtracks of 1980s fitness crazes: think of Jane Fonda's workout videos, or the Jamie Lee Curtis / John Travolta led movie Perfect for example. On the cut, sizzling arpeggios and silky synthesizer stabs are set against angular guitar lines and hyper percussive drum fills. A set of motivational fitness instructors from across the globe lead you through this sweaty six-minute audio workout, which closes out with talk box and guitar solos that simultaneously give the vibes of a hit electro 12" and a big music video from a LA hairband. The instrumental version of 'Freak Out For Fitness' fits in perfectly as a DJ weapon in any high energy Italo Disco set. It's also the supreme soundtrack for any action sports video, perfect for sync.

Hot on the heels of his recent single "Bring Back The Funk" featuring Emily Molloy, Omegaman returns with "Gonna Be Alright" a soul funk, horn heavy party tune. This track began over a decade ago as a DJ mash-up and Omegaman has been dreaming of rebuilding and creating his own original version since then. The result is a feel good stepper featuring Aussie reggae superstar Patou and the soulful Katherine Vavahea. Omegaman's production style can be heard in the retro guitar chords and crisp breakbeat layered with tons of live vintage instrumentation. With the soulful chant-like vocals by Patou playing off of Katherines "take-em-to-church" call and answer, the track grooves and bounces with a nod to 70's disco funk mashed up with a some 90's big beat. Working in the studio with Omegaman were some of Sydney's finest musicians, and singers, including Rhys Franklin, CJ Toop, James Swanson, and Paul Murchison, who all added their flavor to this funky stomper of a track. Its gonna be alright! For those that don't know Pat "Patou" Powell is a legendary Australian musician, of Jamaican descent, who has worked closely with Omegaman on many tracks and manages to be in 15 bands spread out between Sydney and Melbourne. He was recently featured in his own Documentary "In Black & White", covering his more than four decades in the Music industry. Omegaman has worked closely with the accomplished vocalist on a number of creative projects and really enjoy collaborating together. Known as Sydney's own soulful songstress, Katherine Vavahea tackles relevant cultural and environmental issues in her music. Omegaman produced her album "Mama's Soul Kitchen" and has previously collaborated with her on his Rocksteady EP.

This song stood out for me like none other when I was a teenager just learning how to DJ because of its stellar Vocals and track work…. to me this record was that was masterpiece, even though I couldn't play it within many of my sets at the time. this is a record that I would play just to listen to it because from the beginning i would sing along and nod my head to the infectious melodies. Finding out that John was a key mastermind behind this record should not have been a surprise to me. After all, when you've been working with the guy who mixed records like "Caught Up in a One Night Love Affair" and " Somebody Else's Guy", you have to know that you've been working with an influential player in the music game that's like none other…..right? Well, working alongside, John has been an absolute pleasure. And working alongside John on this particular song is honor and privilege beyond some of my wildest dreams. We've done a package that includes John And Sergio's original mixes from back in the day, and his updated remix version that falls in line with the exceptional work that John is doing today. I've also worked with Michele Chiavarini on a Soulful house remix that I hope you will enjoy as well. I pray that you all have a happy holiday, and are ready to be blown away by the sounds that you're about to hear as we present Curtis Hariston's "I Want You All Tonight" to the world once again. Enjoy the music. Strictly for the Love….DJ Spen 1. "I Want You All Tonight" (John Morales M&M Extended Remix) 2. Doche is the artist name of Hugo Doche, a multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ from Belo Horizonte, an hour's flight north of Rio De Janiero in Brazil. Doche is a graduate of the LA Music Academy. His debut release for us was his version of the Donna Summer classic "Bad Girls". On that, his guitar and bass skills, combined with a brilliant vocal from Seattle's Kria McKenzie, delivered the shimmering Purple Disco style delight. His second release, "Million Dollar Bill", recreates the Whitney Houston anthem. This song has been done recently in a house style, but with Doche's disco production and Phebe Edwards' supreme re-interpretation of the song, we think this update has the legs to last as long in the Nu Disco charts as "Bad Girls" (still there, five months after its release!). It's another classy party tune.

Wolfram & Josh Ludlow's Defected club hit 'YoYo Disco' receives a remix from international electronic favourite Purple Disco Machine. The eccentric original received support from top artists, including Parisian French touch expert Chloe Caillet on BBC Radio 1, Majestic on KISS FM, the Keinemusik crew and now Purple Disco Machine. The German connoisseur of all things house, deep funk and disco is a Grammy award-winning master remixer, adding his touch to tracks from A-listers like Elton John and Kylie Minogue to global tastemakers Fatboy Slim and Gorillaz to mention a small few. His signature sound is recognised globally thanks to his undeniable presence at major clubs as well as multi-platinum streaming and radio hits like 'Hypnotized' and 'Fireworks' from his critically acclaimed 2021 album 'Exotica' and 'Substitution'. The remix sees Wolfram & Josh Ludlow's original collaboration disco-fied to the Nth degree, with striking string hits, blinding synth runs and a delicious vocoder section adding a palpable retro feel over its chunky, rolling bass. Prepare for a soul-stirring Italo disco journey, guided by the talented artist Flight Status. Born from intense moments of creativity and introspection in his studio, ' 2364' is a musical diary of five tracks, each telling a unique story and destined to resonate with dance enthusiasts worldwide. The EP's title, '2364,' carries profound meaning as it signifies the address of Flight Status's cherished studio-a sanctuary of artistic expression for two transformative years. The name pays homage to the countless emotions and memories that found their way into the music created within those walls. Opening this musical voyage is 'Raquels Groove,' an uplifting track that captures the serendipity of creation. It was in this very studio that Flight Status's girlfriend walked in, leaving an indelible mark on the groove, and igniting an unexpected spark within the music. Next up is 'Shuttle,' a track that beckons listeners to the dancefloor. Its moody undertones merge seamlessly with an irresistible groove, a testament to the collaborative prowess of Flight Status and mixing engineer Marco. 'Caballero' arrives as a delightful fusion of Latin influences, crisp percussion, and a hint of salsa, echoing Flight Status's passion for music that empowers and elevates. 'Guten Tag Y'all' takes a bold and aggressive stance, mirroring the artist's personal struggles. Yet, its danceable allure remains undeniable, making it an electrifying exploration of resilience. Closing the EP is 'Perfecto,' a track that lives up to its name with precisely timed beats and Flight Status's playful experimentation using a newly acquired pocket engineer sampler. '2364' stands as Flight Status's intimate portrayal of life's ever-changing rhythms, offering a window into his world through five distinctive and heartfelt compositions.

The Shapeshifters teases the deluxe edition of their 2022 studio album 'Let Loose' with two remixes from Sophie Lloyd and Aeroplane. The long-awaited release on Glitterbox saw Simon Marlin work with luminaries from the world of disco, house and soul like Billy Porter, Joss Stone, Kimberly Davis and Teni Tinks, and the album succeeded in pushing The Shapeshifters sonic aesthetic, retaining the brassy, string flourishes and colourful instrumentation that we have come to expect. A year later, 'Let Loose: Deluxe' bolsters the original LP with remixes from fellow Glitterbox mainstays. First up, Belgian disco producer Aeroplane remixes 'Giving Me Something Better' featuring Obi Franky, mixing rhythmic synth goodness into the funk-laden OG. Next, Brighton-based soul house expert Sophie Lloyd remixes Simon's Talking Heads cover 'Slippery People', upping the tempo for the late disco nights on the light-up dancefloor.
