An artist with a century of production credits to his name, Pablo Arbelaez's passion for music has been a constant in his life from an early age. A resident at Club Octava in Bogotá, the Colombian artist has been a regular on AH Digital, Parallel Musik, and Massive Harmony Records. "Mezcal" saw a debut appearance on Clubsonica in early 2022 as part of the "MMW 2022 Sampler", while a remix of ELECGROUND's "Humanity" in late 2024 was another highlight. Now returning to the label, "Nostalgia" is a smooth, groove-infused gem that takes a bassline sequence and pairs it with a crisp rhythmic shell to create a head-shaking, club-friendly vibe. Melody comes courtesy of a glassy synth motif and a searing lead to provide an emotive and melancholic vibe, while a female vocal adds depth and emotion at the breakdown. The addition of piano phrasing into the third movement, coupled with the dynamic and evolving melodies, creates a track worthy of the atmosphere carried in its name. Partner track, "Capsule", written in conjunction with fellow countryman, Lozant, is a harder-edged affair with its chunky rhythmic foundation and glittering arp backdrop. A rapid-fire percussion and running bassline sequence adds to the urgency, while the addition of multiple synth phrases and effects-laden layers adds intrigue and energy in dizzying stereo-panned fashion. Rising and falling with ease across its 6-plus minutes, the track is a strong juxtaposition to the "Nostalgia" opener. On remix duties, Deviu is an artist whose sound is defined by "deep, melodic atmospheres and driving rhythms". A century of credits on the likes of UV Noir, Steyoyoke and Clubsonica highlight an artist in demand. Indeed, June 2022's "Two Worlds" EP was a notable highlight, while remixes for JFR and CHRSTPHR showcased a different side to the Colombian's production repertoire. Now returning for the first time in over 2 years, the Deviu remix of "Nostalgia" is a powerful affair as a thumping kick paves the way for a rippling arpeggio to take up the mantle. Producing a Progressive Trance masterclass, destined to make waves across global dancefloors, haunting vocals from the original, redolent in reverse-reverb, then see a huge bassline make its mark at the mid-point before a series of powerful synth hits create a new cadence while staying true to Pablo's track. The result is a 24-carat gold masterclass. The final rework sees Argentinean pair, Maezbi and Facundo Losardo take centre stage. Both Clubsonica debutants, their individual work has found its way to such celebrated labels as Plattenbank, Juicebox Music, and Plaisirs Sonores Records for Maezbi, with Tale & Tone, Flug Lab, and Akbal Music providing a home for a clutch of high-profile releases for Facundo. Joining forces for the first time, the Argentine duo has created a sultry progressive offering that encapsulates the central themes of "Nostalgia", extending them into new directions with a focus on the reversed vocals that were such a central feature of the original. A powerful bassline presence holds the kick and ticking hi-hats in check while flowing pads add a gentler, relaxed touch. Developing easily, a new chord progression and synth phrase adds a new melodic direction in the second half with a subtle deep house vibe that firmly recognizes the combined talent flowing from the South American duo.
