When the Green Tiger discovered us four moons ago, we quickly learned he was not an ordinary tiger. It was not his color or his size, it was the anger he had for us. First, he attacked our livestock — the sheep, the pigs, the chickens — but not to eat, just to kill. He taunted us with his evil, leaving the dying animals in a row outside our door. Whatever animals he did not kill outright, died within an hour or so from the vile poison of the tigers touch. We knew it was just a matter of time before he caught one of us. We kept the children and whatever animals we had left inside. A-Gong, my husband, studied furiously, trying to find out more about this powerful monster who tormented us. Musical Religion is a gentleman youve met in a past life. This is his first offering for Shango Records. This track will guide you through enlightenment. Delicate calls from the distance pair with pianos and interwoven melodies that paint the aural canvas with a palette of the supernatural. The main club mixes showcase this with the soaring synths and relentless drive that U-G is known for, and the Chill mix takes this to a meditative, calm place that is expansive and goes on to infinity. House veteran Andy Riley, who you will probably best know as one half of Inland Knights, returns with a strong solo release on Frosted Recordings, lead track 'Minute By Minute' setting the tone with a slow-burning, sensual groove blending 90s downbeat influences with rich, evolving synths. Trevor Vichas adds a Dark Deep remix, lifting the energy with a rolling bassline and more driving rhythms. Canadian producer Jason Hodges contributes two complementary versions: one is smooth and soulful with filtered vocals, the other a clean, stripped-back instrumental. As soon as he left I carefully rushed to the gate. The tiger had left a strange array of objects. There was a piece of a broken vase with a moon on it, a mangled childs jacket, and two deep claw marks scratched into the stone. I knew it was a message, but what did it say? The only person who would know would be A-Gong. But he was sick and dying from the tigers poison. My eyes filled with tears as I rushed inside. It was hard for me to keep from crying and I was blinded by my own tears. So, it was only when the fragrance filled the air that I realized that the water I was boiling had leaves from the flowering trees in it. SVNR (RU) opened into the hill a spacious wound and digged out ribs of gold. This is his second offering for Shango Records. This track will hold your hand as you cross the road. Catatonique, Cereus and Im Mady are gold diggers.

Paul Murphys Claremont 56 label welcomes a genuine legend of UK music to its roster - Chaz Jankel, the man whose dizzying musicality and love of soul, funk and disco did much to shape the sound of Ian Durys Blockheads band in the late 1970s and early 80s. A virtuoso keyboardist with a deep love of Black American music, Jankels arrangements and compositional skills were key to the success of their records, the funkiest of which not only became crossover pop hits - see Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and Reasons To be Cheerful, Part 3 in particular - but also saw heavy rotation in now iconic New York clubs including the Paradise Garage and Studio 54. This continued during the formative years of his solo career, with My Occupation, Questionnaire and Glad To Know You (later famously re-edited and dubbed out for nu-disco dancefloors by Todd Terje) all becoming club hits. The great Quincy Jones also covered Jankels infectious single Ai No Carrida, while experimental, club-ready synth-jam 3,000,000 Synths was also influential during the early years of the electro movement. For his Claremont 56 bow, Jankel has delivered an all-new workout recorded earlier this year, the simply titled Rhumba Jam. A typically warm, groovy and rolling affair, it features Jankel delivering infectious, stretched-out Rhodes electric piano solos over toasty bass, clipped guitar licks, warm bass, accordion-style synth motifs and a densely layered Rhumba rhythm. While relaxed and sun-soaked, it also has bags of Balearic dancefloor potential. Murphy remixes under his now familiar Mudd alias, leaning into the tracks languid Balearic vibe while keeping a firm focus on the dancefloor. Beginning with an enticing mix of metronomic drums and jangly acoustic guitars, Murphy slowly layers up key elements of Jankels original - think rubbery bass, rhythmic handclaps, mazy synth sounds and those wonderful, stretched-out solos. Its a version that pays due reverence to the quality of Jankels musicianship, production and arrangement while subtly extending it and reframing it for 21st century Balearic dancefloors.

Its the medicine that cures the tigers poison. It is tea as well, Amah said. It is good whether you have been touched by the Green Tiger or not. Minli stopped drinking. Is there enough of this for the dragon? Minli asked, remembering how A-Gong had asked them to bring more medicine. Maybe we should take this to him. Da-A-Fu laughed again. Dont worry, they said, we have a lot of it! Its made from the leaves of the flowering trees. RYAN (AR) fights for what he wants to be cuz function is the key. Greece is home to the first advanced civilizations in Europe and is often considered the birthplace of Western civilisation. The Ancient Greeks created images of their deities for many purposes. A temple would house the statue of a god or goddess, or multiple deities, and might be decorated with relief scenes depicting myths. Divine images were common on coins. Drinking cups and other vessels were painted with scenes from Greek myths. Greek mythological major Gods believed that they lived in mount Olympus. But she did remember the cozy, lovely feeling of falling into a bed, like holding a warm steamed bun on an icy day. And then Minli closed her eyes and slept. After the great storm, Ma and Ba worried that vast damage had been done to the village. And when the sun shone in the morning, the village looked as if it was in ruins. Large tree branches had fallen and a clutter of leaves and roof tiles and dust and dirt littered the ground. Yet, when the villagers began to clean, the storm had not harmed them as much as they had feared. Semad spreads his wings and prepares to fly. This is his first offering for Shango Records.
