"Disco Intel" is for Groovy Tunes, the first big club where I became a resident. Suddenly, I was playing for almost 1,500 people every week. That was a huge jump for me, and at first it was amazing; I've had some wonderful times there. But after a year and a half, it wasn't really my set anymore; management was telling me what to play, and it became a formula I didn't believe in. I needed to be in control of my own music again, even if that meant starting over. So I left, and that's where "Can't Function" comes in. I moved to a club called Shaft, where I'd also won a DJ contest, and it felt like the right move. It wasn't. I went from playing peak-time slots to a packed floor to opening for almost no one. It was a real learning curve, but most of all a very conflicted time. I couldn't go back to playing something I didn't believe in anymore, but I also wasn't reaching anyone in this new place. The only thing I could do was move forward and invest time in my craft.
