John Askew and Activa team up once again under their AA Meeting guise to deliver another slice of up-tempo power trance. Big riffs and eye-rolling beats a plenty - Supercell soars effortlessly skywards. A key ID from their recent Transmission performance in Bangkok this is a full-on 4am trance delivered in style by John and Rob.
Activas debut single on VII, Velika, gets the remix treatment from two stalwarts of the purist trance sound. Lostly, who needs no introduction takes a hard-hitting approach with a punchy interpretation that is laced with 303 acid lines and his trademark strong kick and off beat bass. Coredata takes things almost in a retro 90s Goa trance direction which works incredibly well on the floor. A brilliant two-track EP that breathes new life into this excellent track from Activa.
Grave Digger is the superbly dark opening track from John Askews new album A Room Full of Pros & Cons. Rolling breaks and big dramatic soundscapes that set a pretty thought-provoking tone for the rest of the album to follow. The vocal from John describes an almost mythological scene of hand-to-hand combat between one man against an army. A David & Goliath story that encourages you to face your opposition with grit and determination that John described in a recent interview as a parody of my day-to-day involvement in the music industry as a manager. Every day is a war that needs to be fought vigorously. On the remix comes the formidable Zach Zlov who brings the power and the energy for a devastatingly driving club version.
