Spektre's record label, Respekt presents a collaborative peak time techno EP from RanchaTek and Phased. RanchaTek and Phased are regular collaborators who have teamed up to release their explosive style on prestigious record labels such as Ramon Tapia's Say What?, The YellowHeads' Reload, Cosmic Boys' Legend and Spartaque's IAMT. Each of the guys are also a successful solo artist, as RanchaTek is a Serbian producer whose back catalogue includes classic releases on imprints like Carl Cox's Intec. Phased is a Brazilian artist who boasts exhilarating techno releases on labels such as Xenia (UA)'s NUMEN. 'Serpens' is the EP's title track and it opens the release with its throbbing bassline, pounding kick drum and ominous atmosphere, which is cut by eerie synths and lurching stabs as it builds towards the euphoria of the cinematic breakdown section. 'Celestial' is second on the release, and its slamming kick drum and tantalising melody form the foundation of its pounding groove. Reaching a crescendo in the epic suspense of the main breakdown, the track lifts up a gear when the percussion slams back in alongside pulsating acid stabs.
