Spektre's record label, Respekt presents a collaborative peak time techno EP from RanchaTek and Phased. RanchaTek and Phased are regular collaborators who have teamed up to release their explosive style on prestigious record labels such as Ramon Tapia's Say What?, The YellowHeads' Reload, Cosmic Boys' Legend and Spartaque's IAMT. Each of the guys are also a successful solo artist, as RanchaTek is a Serbian producer whose back catalogue includes classic releases on imprints like Carl Cox's Intec. Phased is a Brazilian artist who boasts exhilarating techno releases on labels such as Xenia (UA)'s NUMEN. 'Serpens' is the EP's title track and it opens the release with its throbbing bassline, pounding kick drum and ominous atmosphere, which is cut by eerie synths and lurching stabs as it builds towards the euphoria of the cinematic breakdown section. 'Celestial' is second on the release, and its slamming kick drum and tantalising melody form the foundation of its pounding groove. Reaching a crescendo in the epic suspense of the main breakdown, the track lifts up a gear when the percussion slams back in alongside pulsating acid stabs.
Spektre are back with the second of two back-to-back releases on their record label Respekt, and it's another explosive EP in the duo's usual style of peak time techno. Based in the UK, Spektre are a highly respected pair of techno producers who are known for their dark and menacing style, which fuses thundering percussion and enthralling synth lines. Not only have they featured numerous releases on their record label Respekt, but they have also featured their music on other prestigious outlets such as Filth on Acid, Drumcode, 1605 and Kraftek. Respekt has also signed tracks by other artists ranging from exciting new talents such as Mha iri, to longstanding veterans like Marco Bailey, and Spektre save the best of their output for Respekt. The EP's title track 'Jilted' opens proceedings with its monstrous kick drum and brutal percussion, which is underpinned by a rumbling bassline. Shimmering pads contrast with the acid stabs and rhythmic vocal pads that add to the exhilarating energy of this slamming slice of techno. 'Don't Need You' has thrashing hi-hats and a pulsating bassline that surround the modulating arpeggio synth that fills the track with relentless energy. Vocal bursts add to the invigorating vibe of this menacing track.
