The idea is to create a timeless anthem for the hedonistic crowds that flock to Zilvermeer's arced beach for 2 days each June, with a tantalizing fusion of edgy techno and hard trance vibes. First up we have the superb Members Of Legacy Mix which was born out of a desire by Cortex Thrill to represent the cast and crew who make Legacy Festival possible for an army of ravers. A future anthem of the festival is most definitely on the cards given it's raucous, energetic flair. A spoken word intro makes way for pounding beats and nasty 303 lines. Sonar blips add texture alongside stabbing rave synths before infectious gated synths take over on the break for full control of the dancefloor. Top-notch, not to be missed. The Essence Mix is up next and focusses more on the bouncy elements of the groove. With heavy hitting beats and highly energetic 303's, the track leaves you breathless and glad of a short respite on the break where cool spoken vocals and sublime gated vox are prominent. A massive climax leads to the drop that goes straight to the stratosphere leaving sweat filled bodies in its wake. Next up we have the Lift Off Mix which could be considered a more subdued affair but with the same vibrancy and drive as its predecessors. Fuelled by chest pounding beats and devilish acid lines, the groove will definitely move you. Those cool spoken vocals return alongside grittier sounds and sweeping synths. Chopped vox remain a constant that drive the track effortlessly and make this an absolute stomper of a tune. The release concludes with the Members Of Legacy Mix Radio Edit. Delivering the same infectious groove as it's longer sibling, this one is destined for the quick mixing DJ and slots on the airways.

We welcome DSTRD SGNAL back to Bonzai Records with the formidable techno vibes of 'Higher'. This dynamic production duo from Germany comprises Stephan Kessler and Torben Schmidt, who joined forces in mid-2022, before they embarked on a sonic journey under the moniker DSTRTD SGNL, aptly reflecting their penchant for pushing sonic boundaries. Stephan Kessler boasts an illustrious musical background, with notable projects such as Art Academy, L'age Synthetique, Aircrash Bureau, 3 Men, Blackstar, and Dark Noize among his credits. Meanwhile, Torben Schmidt's extensive experience as an A&R manager for renowned labels like Suck me Plasma, Tetsuo Recordings, and Bonzai Germany, as well as his own music productions under various aliases including Mindscape, Noise Control, and Aqualite, adds another layer of depth to their collaboration. Fresh off the back of their Bonzai debut with 'Restart The Sun', we're delighted to have them back once again. We begin with the Club Mix which intros with a solid punchy kick and chest pounding bass pulse. Slicing hi hats and sharp claps combine as the rhythms let loose, taking us to the first break where hypnotic plucks contrast against dark pads and gated vox. After a classic snare roll climax, we're treated to a frenzied second act before psy infused 303 deliver the chaos on the dancefloor. Up next, we have the Rework that dishes out a solid high energy groove from start to finish. Gated vox, dirty 303's, rolling bassline and raucous beats make up the multi-layered construction for some scathing techno action that will not disappoint. Noxious Element marks his debut on Bonzai with a solid remix. Also known as Oliver Kraus, he was gripped by electronic music from a young age. After getting an Amiga 500 computer for Christmas, he soon turned it into a production machine. He became an audio engineer and started to release material in 1999 on Tom Wax's Phuturewax imprint, alongside fellow student Jörg Schellhaas. Live performances followed and he was ripping up the floors in clubs around Rhein-Main before moving to Munich where he focussed on audio engineering. After a bit of a hiatus, he returned his Noxious Element guise in 2021. Great to have him on board. On the remix here, we're treated to a pacey, rhythmic and downright infectious techno-trance hybrid groove. Boasting energetic rolling basses, sweeping rave synths and thumping beats, the track oozes a menacing, frenzied persona. Mesmerizing arpeggios weave through the sound, offering up melodic elements as emotive note changes contrast beautifully with the herder edged tones. A must have, no doubt.
Len Faki returns as Hardspace for part three of his new remix-series, giving his favorite tunes a new life on the dancefloor. An unusual pairing at first glance, Hardspace takes up Soundstream's anthem Love Jam from 2006, the kind of Detroit-tinged disco edit to drop in the peak moment of techno set. Then it's rewind time to another decade, when DnB-Veteran Alex Reece was remixing Motorcity icon Kenny Larkin. Hardspace's mix of Loop 2 retains the playful jazzy notes and growling bassline of the original and turns its oldschool breakbeats into a snappy 4x4-groove. The deadly effective tool that is Andrei Morant's Simple Addition makes for a perfect base to build upon for Faki's signature editing style, emphasizing the plastic shuffle of grooving percussive elements while adding some booming low-end. DJ Rush features with two vocal-heavy cuts on this release: first up the Russian Roulette-hymn I Believe, which sounds even trippier in the stripped-back Hardspace version; then a creepy while sexy mix of Don't You Love Me that steadily builds tension for minutes before slowly giving way to a seductive beat. Closing out with a bang, Damon Wild's Gearbox from 1995 gets a rework: the full power acid-riff is still working its magic but now sounding much more punchy and to the point in this tidied up Hardspace edit.

Next up on Lisbon's VOLTA is an accomplished 2-tracker from Sisyphos regular Mattia Saviolo. 'Nirvana' kicks things off with some immaculately produced euphoria. Clean, powerful drums and a boxing sub bass lay a broad-shouldered foundation that'll stretch even the most potent of sound systems. What unfurls over this sturdy substructure is a battery of mangled frequencies and warm, luscious synthesis that accumulates energy as it surges toward a spine-tingling breakdown. The track is completely dissolved into a chasmic pool before it charges back up toward a drop that will soundtrack countless standout moments across festival and warehouse dancefloors over summer. 'Together' follows up with another burly set up bones as a dense kick drills through a slew of metallic signals. Savilio then pours more heartstring tones over top as an arresting energy develops toward another wide open breakdown. Fractal vocals rebound off a blossoming arp and together they gather energy towards a striking drop guaranteed to wake up the floor; raw, hard-hitting drums adorned with rich, emotive melodies - truly VOLTA's signature sound in evidence.
