NCT and Genetics reunite on Undercover, delivering another collaboration built around tension-filled build-ups and impactful drops. Balancing atmosphere with punch, the track leans into darker textures before unleashing peak-time power. Both artists arrive with strong momentum. NCT has collaborated with Cartoon, ShockOne and T & Sugah, while Genetics recently hit #1 on the Beatport Drum & Bass chart with A Little Sound and Bish on I Just Can't Get Enough. With Undercover, they once again prove their chemistry hits right where it counts.
Ashley Tindall, AKA Skeptical, returns in peak form with Blimp EP -- the fourth release on his Rubi Records imprint -- delivering four meticulously crafted cuts of uncompromising drum & bass. Opening with the title track, Blimp sets the tone with a deep, steppy wobbler that nods subtly to the title track from his second Rubi Records release, Capsize EP. All the signature Skeptical hallmarks are here: hypnotic, pared-back metronomic drums and shimmy-inducing, undulating subs that demand movement. Yet this time there's a noticeable shift -- warm, underlying melodic pads bring an unexpected emotional depth. It's not dreamy, but it is more introspective than we're used to, showing another layer to his sonic palette. So Good flips the script entirely. A dark, cinematic growler, it leans into ghosted vocal fragments and a futuristic film-noir aesthetic. Tense, claustrophobic rhythms and sinister textures create an unsettling atmosphere -- tailor-made for those lights-out, pressure-heavy dancefloor moments. Third comes the undeniable monster of the EP, Technology. Trademark "stink-face" Skeppiness is in full effect from the first bar. Disjointed sci-fi stabs and eerie pads collide with clinical, almost militaristic drum programming, all anchored by a devastatingly weighty bassline. Movement isn't optional -- this is pure Skeptical, uncompromising and lethal. Closing the EP is Bad Generation, a sound system-influenced weapon that finds Skeptical operating at his dubwise best. Fusing minimal D&B with heavyweight, roots-inspired rhythms is no easy task, but here it's executed with effortless authority. It's equally suited to shelling down a rave or getting lost in a deep, eyes-closed session. Four tracks. Four distinct moods. 100\%\% Skeptical. Blimp EP confirms once again that his sound continues to evolve -- sharper, deeper, and more refined with every release.

The North Quarter presents 'Jalapeno', the first single from Submotive's forthcoming EP, Shadow Language. A record forged in darkness, pressure and precision, 'Jalapeno' finds Submotive exactly where he thrives - in the shadows. While he has released a steady stream of music under his own name over the years, he has often chosen collaboration and craft over spotlight, lending his skill to projects that reshaped the landscape rather than claiming the shine for himself. With Shadow Language, a body of work developed patiently and deliberately, that focus sharpens. The EP has been years in the making. Submotive's friendship with label founder Lenzman predates The North Quarter itself, rooted in a shared love of late '90s drum and bass - dark funk that was aggressive but never angry, and rich with atmosphere. 'We talked about doing an EP for The North Quarter for years,' Submotive says, 'but I didn't want to push it until the time was right. I needed momentum and for the whole body of work to feel cohesive. Now feels like that moment.' Drawing from that late '90s strain of dark, experimental funk that once tore through sweat-slicked dancefloors, 'Jalapeno' feels both timeless and volatile. A brooding midrange horn coils through the mix, steadily building pressure before the inevitable heavyweight drop lands. When it does, Fox's simmering, tightly controlled delivery cuts clean through the low end - all clenched teeth, rising pulses and that unmistakable sense of heat gathering beneath the surface. It doesn't rush the impact; it lets it build, letting tension thicken in the room before everything tips. The track has already been doing serious damage in clubs. 'What started as a stripped-back, late '90s-inspired beat grew into a real collaboration with Fox,' Submotive explains. 'He doesn't say yes to just any track. He demands respect in the process, and that's what makes this one special.' Speaking on the track, Fox adds: 'I guess it's a bit of a fun ode to the tradition of sound system culture and MCs bunning down a dance. Sumn to get under the skin and induce that sweaty vibe in the dance where everything clicks.' Behind the boards, Submotive's engineering is second to none. A veteran of drum and bass, he has long been a trusted architect within the scene, working alongside figures such as Goldie and operating as engineer for a host of visionary producers and influential labels. His contribution to The North Quarter helped define the label's early years, his attention to low-end weight, spatial detail and textural depth becoming part of its sonic identity. Meticulous, technical and obsessively detailed, his reputation has been built in the shadows. With 'Jalapeno', Submotive reinforces a presence long respected behind the scenes, refining his own narrative with the same precision he has always brought to others. Shadow Language arrives exactly when it should.
