Samba, Sam Binga, Rochy Romero, HiJinx, Cimm
One of the most interesting (and tallest) producers in Bristol, Samba - often known for his intricate and emotionally charged 140 on iconic labels such as Deep Medi - switches things up with a thoroughly dancefloor-focussed Club inspired EP for the mighty Pineapple. Broody sees Samba and another Sam (the Binga) team up with the incredibly talented Rochy Romero, who laces the bass-led beat with cold-hearted but anthemic lyrics - told my ex imma need more room, but she still on my line tryna bug me - put her on pause, I dont wanna resume. Vocal cuts and an almost vapourwave synth-line set off the pounding kicks and whip-shaking bass to create a unique blend of UK attitude and US swagger. BB was the first track Samba sent over for the EP and its a monster. Club-patterned kicks keep the funk focussed, while another female vocal represents for all the Baddies out there. Support on this one from Alix Perez, Sicaria and more. The Work brings Cimm and HiJinx into the picture - incredibly crisp production brings a luxurious sheen to the Club production palette, resulting in another Jersey-inspired dancefloor weapon. Footsie, Adam Prescott
After roughing up dances earlier in the year on 7 vinyl, Footsie & Adam Prescott return with The Don and some tasty remixes. First up, jungle and bass specialist J-Kenzo strips it back for a heavy rolling assault - road tested for most of this year on soundsystems around the world. Next, like a concealed weapon, Danny T & Tradesman rip up the rules with headtop flying dub reworking - dragging it kicking and screaming further into the scoops. Their dub mix goes even further, mutating the track into a real heavy stepper that would sound obscene on rigs such as Iration Steppas.
Teik Arô
Some sort of heavy fog lifts as you delve into this release by Teik Arô. Beyond The Tree lets us in on a fractal orchard, revealing a bassline capable of lifting you off your feet, floating for its duration. Time seems to accelerate on the fragile pitches of Embers From The Moon and is euphorically reconstructed through the pulses of Vicious Wipe Out and freeze over on the weightless impermanence of Insomnia. Morning Recipe presents us with a hyperspeed, anxious euphoria, that seems to be lulled by the futuroid dub channels of Cryptbloom

Laksa, Phelimuncasi
re:lax HQ finishes off a stellar year with their third record of 2024 - WONDA. Following re:nis head spinning debut, Laksa comes with more arsenal for the club. Sampling iconic grime hype escalation, that energy is channeled into 3 UK soundsystem techno cuts. Razor synths, drum workouts, visceral bass-weight with vocal psychedelia, this is sonic exploration and experimentation with a FWD spirit. The record also sees Laksa delve into his first vocal collaboration, working with Nyege Nyege affiliated Phelimuncasi - all the way from South Africa. Club and Dubwise versions - take ur pick
Morelia
As a DJ/producer, it's easy to feel pressure to constantly write bangers for your sets.... needing to have huge kick drums, fat low-end, satisfying drops, etc. Morelia (who is one of the most energetic DJ's I know) was locked in the groove of making songs for the club. At a certain point, he felt the need to break out of that mindset and let go of the pressure to just write bangers. Morelia found the time and space to channel his feelings and emotions through his music, ultimately writing his aptly named "Time, Space and Feelings" EP. The end result is a 6 track EP that will move your emotions as much as your body. Hi speed 2-step, jungle, halftime, ghetto tech, techno and rave all find their way into these tunes. If ya need some euphoric feels on the dance floor while soaring at 160bpm, these tunes will be perfect for your bag :)

Konduku
Konduku's rhythmically curious strain of techno deals in delicate, interwoven patterns and tangible atmospheres. He arrives on Spazio Disponibile with four new pieces which further mark out his non-standard approach. From the fluttering bell tones of Parlama to the stepped, transcendental murmur of Mantar Kaya and Yukar's high-definition chime mantra, the sound of Konduku is crystal-clear, and yet its overall effect unfurls around you like smoke all the better for your ears to breathe it in.
Sam Binga, Redders, Snowy, Cesco, EMZ, Fracture, Lrusse, Machinedrum, DJ Polo, ONHELL, Mulii, Two Swords, Amy Kisnorbo, Rider Shafique

Entirely collaborative and sonically expansive, the project draws from a vibrant palette: Drill, Dancehall, Baile Funk, Breakbeat Garage—all unified by Bingas signature blend of percussive drive, weighty bass, and razor-sharp vocal features. Its unmistakably UK in its attitude and approach, designed to hit just as hard in headphones as it does in the dance. Featuring key collaborators such as Bakey, Machinedrum, and Cesco, the mixtape is a snapshot of Pineapples creative ecosystem—a scene defined not by genre boundaries, but by shared intent and fearless collaboration. Traxman, Bobby Skillz, Sinjin Hawke, DJ Twan
Anyone with a passing interest in footwork and juke will know of Traxman. Corky Strong has a long history of deep involvement in Chicago house, first releasing on the legendary Dance Mania label in the mid nineties, and since then splitting his productions between ghetto house, juke and footwork, releasing alongside Steve Poindexter and Fast Eddie and the late DJ Deeon and DJ Rashad, including an seemingly endless supply of self-released juke edits of whatever direction his deep knowledge of Black American music takes him. The third volume of Da Mind Of Traxman is his first since 2014. In the intervening years hes kept things rolling, DJing regularly, releasing lots of music, becoming a grandfather and being a mentor for younger artists coming up in the scene. This new album was crafted with the help of fellow Planet Mu artist Sinjin Hawke, who took on A&R duties to collate the best from hundreds of tracks dating back to 2005. Sinjin holds Traxmans status in high regard; This album series is important and holds real documentarian value—working on it feels like the modern equivalent of curating a piece of Miles Daviss catalog in the 60s and 70s. Volume 3 showcases Traxmans uncanny ability to take old music into the future without losing the feeling and energy of his samples and influences. He knows how to add a hi-definition modern chassis with the skill of someone who deeply and intuitively understands the craft of dance music. These are some of the purest, most innovative ideations of Chicago footwork.
Stones Taro
A Bold New Direction from Kyotos Finest. Kyoto-based dance music label NC4Ks boss, Stones Taro, delivers a daring new EP in the third installment of the NC4KWAX series. Known for his dance-floor-focused beats and impeccable sound quality, Stones Taro pushes the boundaries of his sound on this release. The up-and-down bassline provides a solid foundation, ensuring that your speakers get a workout. Busy Lips follows suit, with its chaotic mix of vocal samples and percussion creating a sense of euphoria. The clap on the third beat adds a challenging yet rewarding twist to the track. The third track is pure Stones Taro, featuring a ravey breakbeat sound with trance-like elements that elevate the track to new heights. Finally, Roman producer Christopher Ledger delivers a stunning remix of the fourth track, transforming it into a tech-house masterpiece with intricate arrangements and a deep, bass-driven groove.
Rider Shafique, Sam Binga, Magugu, Taso, MicahTron
Sam Binga and Rider Shafique return to Critical in their usual atypical style, smudging the lines between dancehall, hip-hop and US club music with three vocal-driven sonic killers. ‘Bamboo’ is pure dancehall, with a stabbing bashment rhythm ridden by a slack set of lyrics from Rider that would do Vybz Kartel proud. Title track ‘Get Down Low’ calls on Cardiff rapper Magugu to elevate a moody lesson in club-ready 808s. Finally, ‘Vendetta’ takes things fully West Coast, with Teklife producer Taso linking Binga on the beats and San Francisco’s MicahTron joining Rider on the mic.

Heavee, BABii, DJ Paypal, DanTOG, Homesick, Takuya Nakamura
Heavee is a Queer Chicagoan DJ & producer with a long history in footwork. His 2022 Audio Assault EP on Hyperdub showcased synth-driven, melodic footwork, but Unleash goes much further into audio worldbuilding, with a fresh, spongy and citrus-y sound palette and rich, bright chord sequences. Its minimal, airy, balancing light and dark, sometimes breezy and sometimes clinical. Heavee works simultaneously outside and inside the box, rebuilding footworks framework and vibe to his own unique specification. Rhythmically, its dance floor ready, using footworks 160 template as a springboard for building new drum sounds to express these rhythms, and draws from R&B, rap, jazz and grime, with a sprinkling of bitter-sweet vintage Detroit techno. Unleash takes footworks eats all approach to music and leads it in a fresh direction with a freedom of spirit. Its a strong addition to the footwork cannon and shows that experiments in dance music can be fun.

Hyroglifics, Yeo Limone, Nah Eeto, Deft, Black Josh, Lyza Jane, Feux
"Good things come to those who wait", says Matt Harris aka Hyroglifics about the theme of his debut album, 'I'll Wait, I Guess', a personal journey to hope and healing reflected through 16 tracks of ever-evolving music and the stories that lie within them. "I believe that good things happen with time, however, I also wanted this album to depict the realities of waiting for something and how seemingly hopeless it may seem at times". Written and recorded in Bristol before sessions in London and Los Angeles, where he now lives, 'I'll Wait, I Guess' is his most diverse body of work so far. Though led by the detailed drum and bass he's best known for, the album also includes tracks leaning towards grime, half-time, hip hop, techno and ambient music. "I really wanted to create something that shows my range as a producer and artist", Hyroglifics explains. "My taste is always evolving, so it's hard to pin down a specific 'sound,' as I really enjoy exploring the process of trying to create hybrids of genres."

Yushh
Well Street records welcome Yushh for her debut EP. The Pressure Dome label-head (who has previously landed on Facta & K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth as well as Banoffee Pies) brings a mind-altering mix of sounds. There is sparse and futuristic space techno on 'Kara Arriba' - then deeply introspective downbeat on 'Siro Silo'. 'Dough' is a percolating rhythm piece with rubbery bass and dreamy pads while 'OXI Ambigan' floats through space next to fizzing synth details, distant nebulas and alien life forms.
