My childhood unfolded in a region where the Middle Ages never fully receded, where every village bears a crown of stone and every path is guarded by a cross. I didnt realize it then, but those relics were already burrowed their way into me. I often wandered through these places, especially the churches. I am not a man of faith—perhaps I would be better off if I were, who can say—but I still remember the sense of intimidation I felt before the symbols of Christianity: the soaring vaults, the organs, the paintings, the passion of the christ, the stories glowing through the stained glass. That feeling, somewhere between awe and unease, carved in me a lasting fascination for this aesthetic. I find in it a kind of grace, purity, and perfection. Arcana Anissa Temporum oblitum is a tribute to the most beautiful things Catholicism has ever built. At the end of the day, we are just people: we grow up, we are exposed to certain things, and later we try to spit them back out, and we try to stylize them.
