For his debut on Jah-Tek, Bristol-based producer Tacktile delivers 4 tracks that draw on his broad production style and far reaching tonal palette to explore the outer limits of the 160bpm space. Opening the EP, Tacktile joins forces with Temi Automatic for a twisted take on 2-step, as they blend off-kilter bass experimentation with tightly swung rhythms underneath a blurred, liquid-like haze. 'Beg' follows with a darker, industrial edge, featuring four-to-the-floor mechanics, chaotic percussion and acidic synth textures that unfold through a tense, evolving arrangement. The EP then moves into footwork territory with 'Riders', weaving together rapid fire rhythms, rave textures and tribalistic percussion under spiralling tones and restless energy. Closing the EP, 'Glimpse' strips things back with spatial textures and spectral metallic offshoots, gradually dissolving into shimmering tones that bring the release to a reflective close.
