Transparent Audio 140 / Deep Dubstep / Grime
Dropping the tempo, but upping the ampage, Bristol-based Spektiv lands on Transparent Audio for his second EP on the label. Entitled 'Pressure', he this time serves up a selection of 140BPM treats centrered around villainous sonics and monstrous sound design. Kicking off proceedings with 'Howler', Spektiv wastes no time in demonstrating what his 140-based sound is all about. Murky and tense, minimal, yet sonically complex; this ones not for the faint-hearted. As we delve into the project, the headline track 'Pressure' follows suit, following the evil themes that run through the veins of this EP whilst a frenzy of soul-shaking stabs make this a guaranteed sound system destroyer. Last, but by no means least, Spektiv teams up with 140 specialist NoSine in the form of 'Empty Club'. With wubs and subs that sound like they've been curated on a planet far from our own, this collaboration places the icing on top of an EP that's as brilliant as it is devilish. After the success of Spektiv's 'Invert' EP on the label last year, having the versatile beatsmith back on Transparent Audio was never in question. This latest offering drops on … and showcases a less known, yet just as captivating side to his sonic palette.
