There are many reasons why DJ Hybrid has quickly joined contemporary jungles top tier. His A&R skills as displayed through his own Audio Addict, Deep in the Jungle and Boom 93 imprints, his huge and ever-growing discography including multiple full-length albums, his rinse-out sets as a selector... You get the picture. Alongside multiple DJ Hybrid originals - ranging from the moody Going Back to the tear-out Liberation and hitting all waypoints between - we see the full glory of jungle music on show. Cuts from legends like Tenor Fly, Top Cat, Marvellous Cain and Bizzy B sit alongside the new skool carriers of the torch like Lens, RMS and Toby Ross, as Hybrid fuses the elements that make jungle one of the most significant musical styles the UK has produced. And even thats description is just a fraction of what this selector has put together. This is DJ Hybrids vision of the state of the craft of jungle in 2025. And, sincerely, its not to be slept on. Marking five years of Pineapple Records and a decade since his seminal debut Wasted Days, Sam Binga returns with Club Orthodontics—a mixtape that captures, in high definition, where he stands today as an artist, DJ, and label head. Entirely collaborative and sonically expansive, the project draws from a vibrant palette: Drill, Dancehall, Baile Funk, Breakbeat Garage—all unified by Bingas signature blend of percussive drive, weighty bass, and razor-sharp vocal features. With contributions from a revolving cast of Pineapple-affiliated producers and MCs, Club Orthodontics is both a celebration of community and a masterclass in cohesion. Its unmistakably UK in its attitude and approach, designed to hit just as hard in headphones as it does in the dance. Featuring key collaborators such as Bakey, Machinedrum, and Cesco, the mixtape is a snapshot of Pineapples creative ecosystem—a scene defined not by genre boundaries, but by shared intent and fearless collaboration. Club Orthodontics isnt just a mixtape; its a testament to the collective power of sound system culture reimagined for 2025. Distributed by Label Engine - www.label-engine.com
Sam Binga and Rider Shafique return to Critical in their usual atypical style, smudging the lines between dancehall, hip-hop and US club music with three vocal-driven sonic killers. ‘Bamboo’ is pure dancehall, with a stabbing bashment rhythm ridden by a slack set of lyrics from Rider that would do Vybz Kartel proud. Title track ‘Get Down Low’ calls on Cardiff rapper Magugu to elevate a moody lesson in club-ready 808s. Finally, ‘Vendetta’ takes things fully West Coast, with Teklife producer Taso linking Binga on the beats and San Francisco’s MicahTron joining Rider on the mic.
