Renowned Portuguese DJ and producer Mario Franca makes a welcome return to Piston Recordings with his latest release, the captivating two-track EP, This Change. Mario began shaping the Portuguese electronic music landscape back in 1995, quickly establishing himself through standout performances at some of the countrys top clubs and events. Since venturing into production in 2007, he has built an impressive catalogue defined by rich, sophisticated grooves. With his refined signature sound and seasoned craftsmanship, were delighted to have him back for another outstanding contribution to the label. This Change kick the release off, opening with organic drums that sets a natural, inviting groove. Beneath the rhythm, soft modulating pads shimmer, creating an atmospheric foundation. As the groove builds, warm, elongated bass tones gently rise to the surface, adding depth and movement as a distinct vocal cuts through the texture, becoming the emotional centrepiece of the mix. The pads grow more prominent as the track evolves, blooming into rich melodic soundscapes that guide the us into a deep, immersive flow. Flowers rounds out the release, introing with punchy kick drums, slicing hi-hats, and tightly woven rhythmic percussion that instantly set a crisp groove. Subby, resonant basses gradually rise beneath the beat, pairing seamlessly with soft melodic pads that add warmth and atmosphere. A series of striking lead notes cuts through the mix, lifting the energy while introducing a classic deep-house flair. Cool, hypnotic vocals float above the arrangement, blending with the nostalgic melodies to create a sound that feels timeless and entrancing.
