    Lobos

    Beatport New Releases

Glaswegian record label Lava Lava proudly welcomes Lobos back to the fold for his stunning debut EP. Following on from his breakout track '5am Sunrise' on WAVES Volume 1 in 2024, Scottish producer Stephen Roberton presents a soundtrack from Sunset to Sunrise backed with a thumping remix from Hammer. 5pm Sunset kicks off his debut with brooding low end textures and layered shuffling drum patterns. Retro cowbell hits bounce alongside wandering analogue synth lines resulting in a constantly evolving track, perfect for warming up the dance floor as the sun sets. Next up, R.H.P. mixes classic UKG breaks with vocal samples and crushing bass lines. Laid out over 7 and a half minutes, clean piano notes and bright arpeggios ebb and flow throughout, contrasting the otherwise dark and organic textures. Lobos follows up with a Four-Four Club Mix of R.H.P. where punchy kick drums lean into stabbing synths and chopped bass notes to give a dance-floor focussed edge. As one of the UK's most exciting DJ's and producers, Hammer hits the nail on the head with his remix of 5am Sunrise, providing a no-nonsense club burner. Huge rhythms, gritty low end analogue lines and rolling arps lead you straight into the middle of the dance floor. Bouncing synth licks playfully intertwine through key changes, echoing vocal samples and massive snare rolls to give an undeniably euphoric energy to his remix. Lobos' original version of 5am Sunrise follows with the perfect blend of energy and excitement, reminiscent of early 90's UK dance records. Looped synth lines develop and distort throughout while driving kicks and clean percussion create an irresistible groove. Ascension closes out Lobos' debut as a counterpoint to the EP's club focus with gorgeous cinematic progression. Distant vocal samples launch into long, sweeping synth lines and hypnotic oscillating sequences. A beautiful ambient soundscape with a sense of optimism acts as the perfect closer to this stunning debut.
