EVA048 - Spring loaded | Various Artists EP Evasive Records keeps the pressure firmly applied with EVA048 - Spring Loaded VA EP, a four-track statement that reinforces the label's dedication to groove-led, heads-down underground house music. Following Rob Pearson's recent run of heavyweight releases, this various artists instalment widens the lens while staying locked into the core Evasive identity: functional, refined and built for the floor. Spring Loaded isn't about easing into brighter seasons - it's about tension, propulsion and control. Bringing together four seasoned producers from across the global underground, EVA048 delivers a cohesive collection rooted in experience, vinyl culture and dancefloor intuition. Opening the EP is Carlo Gambino with Pressure, a deep, stripped-down and dubby slice of tech business. With a DJ career stretching back to the mid-90s and performances spanning New York, Paris, Ibiza and now Sydney, Carlo's understanding of dancefloor dynamics runs deep. That knowledge translates seamlessly into Pressure. A warm, rolling low-end keeps you firmly rooted while crisp, minimal drums carve out space with precision. Dubby textures breathe around the groove, subtle and controlled, never overplaying their hand. It's a more minimal tech-leaning cut from the Midnight Social Recordings boss - a label now nearing 90 releases - but one that feels like a natural evolution. Slick, understated and impeccably produced, this is the kind of record that quietly finds its way into the right boxes and stays there. Next up, London-born and Brighton-based Leo Christopher delivers Lost and Found, a perfectly balanced tech roller that sits squarely within the Evasive blueprint. Founder of the vinyl-only Murmurations imprint and a producer with releases on labels including LimoBytes, Satya, Beeyou and Kiku, Leo brings a rhythmically rich approach shaped by early roots in drum & bass and UK bass culture. That influence can be felt in the movement of this track. Lost and Found rolls with intent. The groove is infectious, the bassline elastic and driving, while sculptured sounds are carefully layered and lovingly woven into the framework. Every element feels deliberate. It's hypnotic without being overworked - refined, dynamic and built to maintain momentum across long blends. A perfect tech roller that embodies what Evasive is about. Shadow Function step forward with Deck Stress, taking things into darker, driving territory. Formed by veteran DJs Neil Gales and Marvo (Mike Dowson), Shadow Function draw on decades immersed in underground house culture - from early North East residencies to Ibiza summers and London's golden-era tech-house circuit. Their sound is rooted in vinyl traditions and the foundational energies of New York, Chicago and Detroit. Deck Stress reflects that lineage. A firm, rhythm-led groove powers the track forward, underpinned by punchy drums and rolling low-end pressure. Dubbed-out, spooky vocal cuts flicker through the mix, injecting tension, while a beautifully judged acid line manoeuvres its way through the arrangement, guiding the listener on a subtly tripped-out ride. It's controlled, hypnotic and built for late-night rooms where groove matters more than gimmicks. Closing the EP is Tel Aviv-based Eran Ben-Zeev with Why Keep It Inside, taking the energy deeper into the night. With foundations in live percussion before moving into electronic production, and recent momentum through both vinyl and digital releases - including the launch of his own imprint Inward Channel - Eran has been steadily building a reputation for detailed, dub-influenced minimal house. Why Keep It Inside leans fully into that aesthetic. Haunted and eerie, the track unfolds through a restrained dubby atmosphere, layered over a steady, hypnotic groove. Deep basslines pulse beneath drifting textures, creating emotional depth without sacrificing functionality. It's immersive and introspective yet still entirely dancefloor-ready - a subtle but powerful closer that underlines why Eran is increasingly in demand. With Spring Loaded, Evasive Records once again delivers a tightly curated snapshot of contemporary underground house - groove-focused, system-ready and rooted in experience. Four artists. Four distinct approaches. One clear direction. Evasive stays loaded. All tracks mastered by Rob Pearson @ Online Studios UK.
