Kerri Chandler is one of the fathers of NYC’s house community and has been releasing no-frills club fodder since his ’91 debut, Super Lover Get It Off. As house music has fractured into micro-genres, attention has turned toward the sound’s newer innovations—but Chandler never stopped pumping out his steadfast trademark beats with contemporary feel. Kerri gets down and delivers some bad ass music while at the same time paying his respects to Mr. Dick Dickler. These songs are dedicated To All of Ireland, Mucca, Flukey, Red Fm, Fish Go Deep & Mr. Dickler of course. I'm not one to hype, but this Ep has left me no other option than to express it my Damn self. Smokin' through and through. On The Tapes & Eye Tattoo, Dick really rises to the occasion showing he understands all the subtle nuances of House. Blending sounds craftily together on "The Drive", he even decides to sing a little bit. EQ a/k/a The XTC Queen even decides to get down on "The Bar", adding to all the fun. A sensational Ep where Dick gets hard and then goes soft but not before he erupts, sending us into cosmic glee. Behind this project is none other than the legendary Kerri Chandler who produced and mixed all of the tracks. All of the four track start of with recorded dialogues before the music kicks in. First up is "The bar" featuring sexy spoken words by EQ (aka XTC Queen) over a classic Kerri Chandler styled deep house groove enriched with lovely chords. "The drive" is next, a relentless, heavily thumpin' deep house track featuring wicked keys. "The eye tattoo" is a kickin' affair built around sharp beats that get topped with catchy synths and sexy female vocals. Last but not least there is The tapes, an amazing track built around a resistless stompin' beat, with catchy keys and sexy vocals helping to create an absolutely intense vibe. Michael Fosatti spirit of house.com This is an essential house release ! Written and produced by Kerri Chandler, this 4 tracks EP is a real bomb, all the tracks are solid pieces of house music, enriched with an infectious deep vibe. "The bar" is an irresistible deep track featuring EQ a/k/a The XTC Queen on spoken words vocals, "The tapes" is a pumpin' and groovy track enriched with wicked organ keys, "The eye tatoo" is a strong old school influenced house track full of positive energy and "The drive" is a deeper and driven journey into the underground side of house. This is for sure one of my favourite records this year. Top stuff. Franco Martinelli Housepage.net I'm not one to hype, but this Ep has left me no other option than to express it my Damn self.
