Brooklyn-based artist Martini joins the All Centre roster with their new EP Espresso. Following stand-out appearances on Kindergarten and Early Reflex, Martini brings their warped sounds to AC, blending abstract sound design with rhythmic experimentation whilst retaining a sense of levity and playfulness across four electro and breaks-inspired bass tracks. Wingdings kicks off proceedings with high energy levels - time-stretched pads, pummeling kicks and warped vocals lay the foundations. Bassweight pressure mounts before transitioning into a propulsive electro groove that doesnt let up throughout the tracks duration, with clever rhythmic shifts and inventive sound design. Next up, Sun-Bleached opens with scything, razor-sharp synth stabs, at once abstract and emotionally resonant. The chords interplay across a heavy syncopated rhythm, reaching new heights in the latter stages as a breakbeat shifts the groove into another gear and synths soar higher, before submerging at the close. On Sweet Tooth, the track begins with a steady groove before breaking away at the seams, an abstracted rewind giving way to an aquatic Drexciyan rhythm. A dub-y bassline drives the track forward amongst elusive melodies and echoing snares, the tension building to a fever pitch as the sounds morph and build. Power Play stretches into murkier territory, slowly building as pounding drum hits eventually give away to a stepping half-time rhythm. Gated vocals bounce above the groove as droning pads build a dubbed-out atmosphere. Espresso is available across all digital platforms from April 17th.
