The CoOp Presents label kick off their 2026 release-run with the 7th in their 'One-Shots' series. Label bosses IG Culture & Alex Phountzi link up under their NameBrandSound moniker once again, this time drafting in the vocals of South Africa's ASAP Shembe, for a track called 'Baleka'. Following on from collabs in the past year with Reek0 from the Brighter Days Family and Nuff Pedals (aka Dismantle), NameBrandSound continue to build upon their illustrious catalogue that they've been carefully crafting over the past few years. As two pioneers of the bruk scene, they can also be found fortnightly on the mighty Rinse FM pushing the newest sounds of the movement. ASAP Shembe was raised in Johannesburg, largely influenced by his father's tape collection. He's since collaborated with artists like Atjazz, Kid Fonque & Sipho the Gift. Accolades include features in OkayAfrica's "Artists Shaping The Future of South African Music", the cover of The Sunday Times 'Lifestyle' mag, being a finalist for Afropunk's 'Battle of the Bands', and multiple number one singles on the 5FM chart in SA. 'Baleka' is a Zulu & Xhosa verb meaning "run away" or "flee". On the contrary, this is one that's sure to make heads run towards the dance. Skippy drums, twisted bass and vibrant synth stabs merge with Shembe's vocals for a uniquely London x South African combination of flavours. Essential. This one drops on Bandcamp February 20th, then lands on all DSPs February 27th 2026.
CoOp Presents is proud to bring you The Remedy Remixes from LCSM, featuring new flips from masterplan, Alex Phountzi (NameBrandSound) & IZCO (Brighter Days Family). LCSM (Likwid Continual Space Motion) is one of IG Cultures flagship projects, fusing an array of sounds from the worlds of jazz, soul, hip hop, garage, d&b, bruk and beyond. The 33rd release on the CoOp Presents label, this triple pack takes on three different moods from within the bruk genre, though all focusing squarely back to the dancefloor. The EP also features the vocal talents of Allysha Joy (30:70 / Joy Spheres Rees / First Word Records) and South African-born, Rara Zulu; both integral players in the Naarm / Melbourne soul, jazz, r&b and dance music community, and beyond. The Remedy Remixes embodies the vibrant sound of underground club culture in 2025. The Remedy Remixes is released on Bandcamp on October 17th, before landing on all other digital platforms on October 24th.
