Fresh off his collaboration with Fred Everything on Composition X, Tom Szirtes aka Shur-I-Kan, returns with his 13th release on the label, solidifying his place as one of the core artists in the 20 years of Lazy Days. His new single, Unfold, is yet another standout slice of house music: built on a club-ready, infectious rhythm, layered with dubby chord textures, and elevated by Toms signature musicality and deep understanding of harmony. While the original instrumental could stand on its own two legs, we thought it would be a great idea to a spoken vocal to it to elevate the project. We reached out to LA-based artist Juliet Mendoza, who brought our concept to life with her unique voice and creative vision. The result exceeded all our expectations. A dancer at heart, Juliet brings her deep connection to rhythm and movement into her DJ sets, with her contagious energy. A familiar face at Defected showcases, shes also been making her mark as a producer—recently releasing an EP on the legendary Nu Groove and lending her vocals to Ralph Sessions projects on Freerange and Quintessential. When shes not performing, she shares her knowledge by teaching Introduction to DJing at IO Music Academy.
