Viento EP
Funk Tribu will make his ARTCORE debut this December with a new EP Viento. The twotrack release flawlessly showcases the Columbians ability to fuse elements of techno and trance in order to cultivate his signature retro futuristic sound. Since coming to prominence, Funk Tribu has enjoyed a number of high-ranking positions on Beatports venerable dance charts. This year, he secured his first No.1 position with I Want Your Love, a collaboration with Oliver Heldens and DIøN. While previous releases such as Drummers, Phonky Tribu and Platinum have peaked at No.15, No.4 and No.36 respectively. Whilst the Viento EP marks Funk Tribus first outing on Indira Paganottos highly regarded label, the Bogotá native has already featured on a number of leading labels in the hard dance scene including Teletech, A Million / Groove Attack, Heldeep Records, and 44 Label Group. Itll be fair to say that 2024 has also been somewhat of a breakout year for the young producer in regard to performing. Having been invited to record his first Boiler Room broadcast prior to the release of his anxiously anticipated debut album, Against All Odds, he headed to Amsterdam to host Intercell x Funk Tribu Invites at ADE before crossing the Atlantic for a North America tour comprising dates in Toronto, Los Angeles, Mexico City and New York. Whilst in his adopted home city of Berlin, his Speedmaster event series continues to blossom in popularity with its final show of the year at Watergate having already sold out. Launching with title track, Viento provides a neon-lit rush from beginning to end whilst boasting a dulcet mix of galloping drum patterns, simmering pads and a delightful flute like melody. Its both thrilling and somewhat serene in equal parts delivering an unpredictable jaunt through an unnerving, whimsical soundscape made up of both fanciful overtones and daunting bass. When The Sun Goes Down features on the flip and sees out this impressive debut with panache. Surging from the off by way of a fierce clap and kick combination, a rush of flanging ambience soon washes over the initial beat before a potent mix of grandiose strings and rapid fire percussion takes hold to close out yet another wonderfully eclectic ARTCORE debut.

Two years ago, after Covid sent the industry into a tailspin I made the sad decision to stop pressing Holding Hands records to vinyl. This was gutting as the label had been putting records out from the first release and it had always felt like an integral part of the labels identity. It sucked but I always hoped that in the future I would be able to feel confident in pressing records again and I am so happy to say that the time has finally come again! Earth Trax popped into my inbox with some demos and I instantly knew there was something special here. The tracks are absolutely timeless and will do the business on any dancefloor from now until the end of time. The A sides have more of loopy club quality that you could listen to all night. The sort of thing that you just lose yourself to when it comes on in the club. You arent sure exactly when it came on but you suddenly realise that youve been gurning with your eyes closed for some indeterminate amount of time. Basically, theyre very chewy loops (note to self: potential cereal idea). The B sides have more of a.for lack of a better word, B side quality to them. Theyre both broken and they make me want to move my body from side to side in a sort of jagged cool 80s way. Ones to make you move and think at the same time. OK enough of my blather. Go and listen to the damn things yourself and decide if you like them, rather than trying to work it out from reading a bloody press release you weirdos. All four tracks are produced and sculpted for the club. They want big sound systems and dark rooms. Close your eyes, hold hands and experience transcendental space flight...
