Strange, Pt. 2
Justin Aulis Long closes out Strange with Part 2, featuring J-Dub, taking listeners even deeper into a twisted, groove-driven world. The A-side opens with a hardware-driven Chicago acid dub remix by Secret Studio. A fragment of J-Dubs vocal repeating going through a change rides over distorted 909 beats and cascading 303 acid lines that stretch from piercing highs into subsonic lows that shake both body and walls. Additional echoed percussive stabs and tonal bursts punctuate the groove, but the relentless acid line and swinging toms and hi-hats keep the track locked in a cadence reminiscent of Chicago legends like Armando and Phuture. On the B-side, Luis Baros FM Remix takes Strange in a more atmospheric direction. Baro preserves J-Dubs vocal while weaving in a new bassline, keys, and psychedelic effects, creating a moody and esoteric groove. The track defies easy categorization, perfect for late-night or early-morning underground sets. Both remixes share the adventurous spirit of the Spring Collection, stretching the boundaries of bass, acid, and vocal fragments into a multi-dimensional journey that demands attention and movement.
