Flashback - Frankfurt am Main in the 1990s: Matthias Vogt writes record reviews for Groove magazine, works as a DJ in various clubs and studies jazz piano. His first releases as a producer are already on the street. When one of his favourite labels, for which he had written numerous reviews, Force Inc, opened a house sub-label (Force Inc US), Matthias submitted two of his own tracks to the label. The DJ Matt EP entitled Die Tiefe / Augen zu is released. The two completely analogue-produced tracks mark the beginning of Matthias journey into the realms of deep house music. A few months later, Matthias Vogts career takes off, with a move within the same Frankfurt corridor, from Force Inc. to INFRACom! and the launch of his projects [re:jazz], Motorcitysoul and Matthias Vogt Trio. Cut. Today: A social media post drew the attention of Berlin DJ, producer and label maker Johannes Albert to the story surrounding the 1999 release. Now, 25 years later, Augen zu/Die Tiefe is being completely remastered from the original DAT tape by Gyso Hilger (Nektarium Darmstadt) and reissued - looking and sounding great - as a 10 on Frank Music.

And the big boss of d-edge returns, once again addressing the marine theme. A mysterious, fascinating and engaging universe. He once again brings us three tracks with a lot of groove. Striking pianos with funkier bass lines on the tracks Diving and Scuba diving. For the track Scuba, it brings an atmosphere around a more SUB bass line, accompanied by more electronic elements and soul vocals. All three are great for the dance floor. Besties unite, as Cromby debuts on Sally C's Big Saldo's Chunkers! This feels deliciously fated. Musical soulmates, Cromby is the only person Sally C will go record shopping with. The duo minted their friendship back in 2016, not long after both migrated to Berlin. A friendship forged through shared dancefloors, long hours at the pair's beloved Bikini Waxx and impromptu B2B sessions, they have a common passion for good times and serious digging. If you want a sense of the genesis of Sally's label baby Big Saldo's Chunkers, just listen to the cult-favourite 'Big Saldo & Cromby Dusty Hip Haus Mix' that's lived on her Soundcloud since 2019. Cromby knows a Chunker that's for sure. His contribution to the label is elite. Rinsed by the pair all year, it's supports also include Job Jobse and Bambounou. In January it highlighted Nachtiville, where it was played all weekend long and became an unofficial hype anthem of the festival. A fiercely hunted track I.D ever since, lock this in as one of those catchy Cromby classics we all love and can't stop playing (and singing). 'Pump It' is an atmospheric roller, a perfect cut for maintaining the energy after the hands-up vibes of 'House Flava'. 'Free' features Cromby's own vocal debut - 'I didn't realise at the time of writing how fitting the lyrics would be for our times unfortunately,' he shares. Driven by punchy purring bass, it brings plenty of rugged energy with 303 flourishes, while dreamy keys balance things nicely. One for the after-hours. The EP is rounded out with the wicked hoover-led 'Best Not Miss', that transports us back to a steaming Trade dancefloor circa 1997 and is thrilling in every sense.
At the helm of one of the most consistently vibrant labels in the scene, Spain's Dennis Cruz and Italy's Eddy M continue to deliver upfront and innovative house music that resonates through their own MÜSE label, plus across esteemed imprints like Crosstown Rebels, Solid Grooves Records, and Moon Harbour. Amidst another bustling summer schedule, featuring their regular sets for Solid Grooves Ibiza residency at DC-10, they return and showcase their individual sounds and deep grooves across their fresh EP 'Going Down/Don't Play'. Taking the lead, Cruz kicks off with 'Going Down', a flavourful house track filled with funk-laden guitars and vibrant bongo rhythms-a standout choice for this summer season. Next, Eddy M cooks up a punchy, foot-stomping groove driven by its pounding kicks, trippy vocal snippets and bass-heavy productions.

On the flip 'Let It Be' is deep timeless classic house cut.

New Jersey's very own Harry "Choo Choo" Romero makes a triumphant return to Black Book Records with 'Paradise II', an inviting house track with shock value that makes for a real moment on the dance floor. Informed by decades of work with Subliminal Records, his own Bambossa records, and numerous classic remixes, the single captures the spirit of the raves that raised him, and asserts why Romero remains a longstanding legend among East Coast veterans. With a career dating back to 1995, Romero makes infectious grooves with his eyes closed. He's played a key part in what we know house music as today, further validated by Muzik "Remixer of the Year" Award (1999) and Defected's "House Masters" Series in 2023. 'Paradise II' sees Romero leaning back into this signature sound of his from years past, yet reinventing it for a modern context, leaving him reemerging more relevant and iconic than ever. Ecstatic synthwork and nostalgic, spoken word mantras create a euphoric soundtrack for dance floors, reminiscent of the early days of DC10 and Space Ibiza. Jumping on the remix who better than a New Jersey neighbor, Avision, whose percussive twist on the original further drives the pair's elegant play on timeless aesthetics. Otherwise known as Anthony Cardinale, the young tastemaker uncannily mirrors the early days of Romero's career, taking his own tasteful strides towards legacy. After starting on turntables at the age of 12 and landing his first club residency at 15, his early education in club culture speaks for itself through his production, binding the past and present of house music into an elegant package. 'Paradise II' hits stores on July 12 via Black Book Records. "I couldn't be more excited to unleash my follow up track to last year's 'Fool for Love' with Leo Wood. This new record has all the ingredients to smack you up, flip you and rub you down. Big ups to Black Book for seeing the vision and bringing me back, thank you!" - Harry Romero
