Sci-fi techno pioneer Scalameriya returns to Perc Trax for his first release on the label in over three years. Since then hes been busy growing his Void+1 empire whilst building up his hardware only live set which will be rolling out around Europe soon.Aurifex Rex is Scalameriya at his most intense and forward thinking, twisting sound into new forms and combining these timbres with the heavily processed vocals that made his Perc Trax hits such as Let My Flesh By Your Sacrament so unforgettable.Opener Aurifex Rex is the vocal centrepiece of the EP, glitching and stuttering it constantly builds from start to finish unlike anything you will hear outside of Scalameriyas own music. Next up Psybernetix is a classic Scalameriya percussive roller, the kind that perfectly fits into a DJs set and refuses to leave for months to come. The second half of the EP is comprised of two versions of It Stared Back. Scalameriyas original mix is built on a huge synth riff that also contains just a hint of orchestral drama. Have real work instruments finally broken into Scalameriyas alien sound universe? Youll have to ask him yourself. Closing things off Perc Trax boss man Perc remixes It Stared Back, serving up a club ready mix as rolling percussion is interrupted by the sudden drops that Percs best productions are known for.

Perc returns to Perc Trax for his first full EP since the release of his Resident Advisor recommended album The Cut Off in March 2024. Across the three tracks of Soft Launch Perc sets out his current sound, a groove led take on classic techno with the depth of production and unexpected twists that Percs tracks are famous for.Title track Soft Launch is based around the interplay between the three main elements of the track, the driving kick & bass, cut up percussion loops and the ever building string chords, creating something unique that has been a key track in Percs sets since it was completed.Tonight sits somewhere between pulsing electro and gritty lo-fi techno, constantly pushing forward as a female vocal breaks through the wall of percussion demanding to hear something fresh. Finally Gravity Drop pushes the sound design further, mixing a crisp industrial kick drum groove with cut up atmospheric melodic and vocal elements creating a psychedelic dreamlike atmosphere to close the EP.

SPFDJ steps up for her long-awaited debut EP, Heel Thyself, out Friday 7th November on Intrepid Skin. A core figure in grassroots techno circuits, and an internationally lauded DJ, SPFDJs ascent reflects a passion for music governed by love and grit in equal measure. At once providing a gleefully chaotic two-fingers to dance musics self-serious establishment, whilst also flexing an ever-expanding knowledge of its roots and potentials, her musical armoury is renowned the world over for inspiring debauchery and sweat-soaked hedonism. As an artist whose journey has been defined by challenging the norms of electronic music, SPFDJs rebel spirit is recognised locally and globally, but guiding this attitude is a vulnerability to the realities of the music industry, and the rise of conservatism that permeates every aspect of life. And whilst sensitive to the use of buzzwords like community, its ultimately a respect for the people who keep these scenes alive that motivates her artistry. In releasing this EP, she taps into a more vulnerable side. The title - a nod to internal healing processes, and a play on words to motivate queers and women to boot up for battle against increasingly oppressive structures - shines a light on some of the values she holds up to electronic music culture. At once playfully chaotic and deeply energising, Heel Thyself spins us through a cyclone of kicks, punches, and noise. Opener Cluster B Intro is a tempo-twisting barrage of gabber led by a robotic vocal command, setting the scene for pretty much anything to happen. That Stiletto Track kicks in like a tweaked out distortion of 90s trance before spiralling upwards into a storm of heavy breaks. F*ckboi is hot n heavy electro - classic in its structure, but with the added industrial touch of hammerdrill synths and razor sharp percussion. Swinging into a bouncier state, The Hot in Psychotic flings ricocheting rhythms through frantic claps, with a donk to keep things moving. Rounding things off, Mindless Counting flies higher with pummeling drums lifted by a touch of euphoria. A debut laced with both defiance and self-reckoning, Heel Thyself finds the rebel looking inwards - vulnerable, but sharpened and ready.
KHA025 KHA025 witnesses the return of Decibel Place to Khazad records for his first full length EP on the label. Liverpools Decibel Place is an artist who has recently emerged on to the Northern UK and wider techno scene with a flurry of exceptionally produced releases. With a focus on utilising powerful, energetic and rolling percussive elements within his tracks, his sound is an ideal fit for Khazad. The Broken Neck EP is an exploration of energy and movement through repetitive call and response. Each track is able to develop a hypnotic like feeling but with a percussive toughness and vitality that primes them for a dark warehouse or club environment. Also featured on the EP is a shadowy reimagining of Tekowah by Decadence who returns to the label following a fantastic submission on the recent Various Artists compilation. With this remix, Decadence maintains the raw driving energy of the original track but implements a gloomy atmosphere and intensity. It's a track for the ravers who stay up when the night ends, a pulsing memory of connection, loss and the glow that lingers after the rush." The solo track on this release, "Miss U" has an electro-tinged arpeggio, which creates a pulsating groove underpinned by a hammering kick drum. Intense stabs and hoover sweeps add to the warped vocal loop that galvanises the hypnotic flow. Profound vocals add to the trance riff of the epic breakdown, which delivers spine-tingling euphoria, before the drums regain control with their explosive energy.
