Acerbics 'Spitfire' EP on Arkham Audios Arkham XXX sibling label opens up with monstrous kick drums and buzzing synths to devastating effect. Fast-rising Tympanum Records boss EAS remixes the Spitfire opener into an even more brutal wall of caustic Techno sound that never stops driving onwards. 'Analysis' follows, riding on more slamming drums with distorted synth blasts and brutalist atmospheres that will bring sheer power to the dance floor. Aggressive hard Techno proponent SKiRRA steps up to remix Acerbics Analysis next and speeds things up with hard but funky kicks and synth stabs, bringing plenty of texture. The bumping 'Acid & Aliens' comes alive with spraying 303s that are sharp and bright, followed by a remix from Spain's leading Hard Techno talent and Caedite Eos owner SlugoS, who strips things back to industrial, high-speed drums and paranoid synth sirens. Acerbic 'Supercell' is another mind-melting Techno concoction with light, unresolved synth loops keeping you on edge as marching drums make their mark on the dance floor. Last of all is yet another great coming-together of Arkham Audio label boss Cri du Coeur and frequent collaborator Erratum, who offer a remix that goes a little deeper but with the same Techno potency that defines this most arresting EP. Ant Wilson, aka Chicago Loop, has been making music since the 90s, but Acerbic is a new outlet for a fresh, hard-edged sound that draws on his roots in the illegal rave scene of London. The new alias debuted last year after a decade away from the harder end of the spectrum and soon made a mark with outings on Acid Artists in Action. He followed it up with music on D.A.V.E. The Drummers infamous Hydraulix Records, now following things up with the Spitfire EP outing on Belgium's Arkham XXX. Acerbic's Spitfire EP arrives on Arkham Audio on May 17th 2024.

Since 2019, the Manchester based label, Moments in Time, has had many strong releases, showcasing their commitment to signing upcoming local talent, as well as those more established names. Our third release for the year is from talented Irish techno artist and Amsterdam based, DECADANCE, and it includes a remix from none other than Parralx! The lead track, "Saoirse", explores the duality of tribalism and conflict through three fast paced, percussively intense techno tracks. The track conceptually seeks to symbolise violence, emotion and peace. Beginning relatively peacefully yet characterised by a tense atmosphere, the intensity capitulates through violent drums before morbid synths set the emotional and melancholic tone. "Ehyah" juxtaposes primitive, tribal percussion with the familiar sound of a viral, modern day trap vocal. The specific sound sampled, was taken from a track which DECADANCE discovered through Soundcloud's algorithm, which automatically plays viral music every time an artist's privated track finishes. Tribal rhythms have evolved from our inception and the emergence of AI and "the algorithm" has intercepted how we engage with what was once a pure and primitive experience of sound. Ehyah, represents this conflict. Whilst Parallx follows up with a stripped back remix masterpiece. "Death of Connla", confines within the EP's concept of tribalism and conflict, yet remains simple in its execution. Made immediately after DECADANCE, briefly returning to his home in rural Ireland, the lead is taken from sampling the Celtic Carnyx. The track essentially imagines the tale of Cú Chulainn murdering his own son Connla in battle and seeks to befit the soundtrack to one of Ireland's many mythological stories.
Repitch Fast Forward, the latest vinyl release from Repitch Recordings is a dynamic split EP by the two funders, marking a meaningful contribution to Repitch's second Decade. This release beautifully highlights the diverse musical ethos of the label. On the A Side, Ascion's 'Hurry' kicks off a captivating blend of techno and electro elements, creating a dreamy atmosphere of pleasure. The acid-driven journey of 'Himmerbone' and the nostalgic powerhouse 'Violent Delights' follow suit, reminiscent of 90's French style. Turning to the B Side, D. Carbone boldly redefines the techno landscape. 'Hard Avengers' sets a melodic techno tone with acidic elements, while 'Fuck You' presents a groovy acid track, showcasing a progression from D. Carbone's early Mord Sound. Concluding the EP, 'Not A Business' stands as a testament to Repitch's nonconformist ethos, breaking boundaries and crafting music for the people, not for the business. The resurgence of Repitch with this compelling vinyl release, a humble testament to the unwavering commitment to pushing musical boundaries and delivering unparalleled sonic experiences.
