07.10.21 > Claires Accessories has remixed Federations Venus, pitching it up to 170bpm + DJ Hyperdrive has played it on his Boiler Room Hard Dance 121 set. I am out for a run, listening on my bone conductors. What is this? It is fast. It is raw. It is animal. It has the thrash metal / crust-punk pace of psy, but without the trite robot farts + UFO samples. There are gabber kicks + Bladerunner riffs. It is cold + it is minimal. + then it is hard + it is beautiful. I want to hug a dog walker. 11.10.22 > SIOC has remixed Otto K (LOST182), Claires Accessories has reworked Steve Jones (LOST183), + Astral Bandits oneiric psy-gaze masterpiece Different Kind of Friend(LOST185) has broken all known BPM records for a Lost Language a-side. 21.12.22 > A quiet night in sharing music over a bottle of red, some shrooms, + a fish pie - Melissa + I had a moment listening to Matriarks Virvle. I have stuck it on a 2hr mix, alongside current faves from Pro Athlete, Mikkel Rev, Mac Declos etc / recent EL-EL signings. This is THE PULSE OF A TIMELESS WAVE. 28.04.23 > Matriark is DJing at COCYX in London. It is my 43rd birthday. The venue is an old office space in Tottenham that I worked in 15 years ago. It has since been turned into a nightclub + I find myself dancing where my desk used to be. Pissing on the ghost of a photocopier. I bore everyone with this synchronicity. Matriark drops Lost Tribes Gamemaster (HOOJ081), pitched up into the high 160s. It goes off. Drunk on meaning / a heavy dose of McKenna Mushrooms (Terrence / Paul) I fall into a fugue. I feel unreal. 11.9.23 > Thanks to a campaign by Trance vet J00F, Beatport have introduced a new genre tag - RAW TRANCE, + with EL-EL sat firmly in the uncooked camp, they have asked me to submit a video talking about it. I stand in a field and blabber on about - The sound. The art. The underground. + a NEW PUNK ENERGY(TM). When things are truly exciting, it is never just about the music. 10.12.23 > Holeigh loved the EL-EL promos. Shes gonna play Factorias Darkskye remix in Paris tonight. Said it sounds wicked at 155. 12.4.24 > Loving the Afgang Remix of Racket Sports. Almost donk when it breaks. (Donk-ish? Donk-y?). With the Nordic Echoes remix of Suns Horses, thats 2 killer cuts from Denmark. 1.10.24 > Dave Moth has reworked Dominions 11hrs + weve collaborated with Ulteriors Paul McGregor as SIDE WOUND. It is a dream. Paul Speedmaster Coppings remix of Locomotion (LOST193) has just been released, + the Vergil edit of DIFFERENT KIND OF FRIEND has racked up plays from new breed heavyweights KI/KI, Hyperdrive, + Charlotte de Witte. 10.12.24 > SIOC has remixed 3 classics from our back cat. The masters sound great. Hard to pick one, but Origin (LOST001) is 100\%\% going on the next EXHIBITION. 07.02.25 > I am sat in my local trying to write a blurb for this comp. All our raw cuts on one CD length mix. As usual, it is a fucking jigsaw. The running order - a puzzle. Until you find the corners. + the edges. + then it isnt. I keep a daily record in lined red + black. Dreams, shadows, cosmic love / loathing. The last 4 years are on the table in front of me. Everything takes forever. This is that. Never not was. BL 25.

18 years after the original release, Italian house music's main men of the moment, The Cube Guys rework D.H.S. iconic track 'The House Of God', adding their own modern and unique tech house twist, and bringing new life to the 1991 classic. Simply a guaranteed dancefloor anthem! ---- THE CUBE GUYS is a club undertaking that was born in 2005 between two of the most prominent producers in Italy: Roberto Intrallazzi and Luca Provera. Although their backgrounds and professional training differs, their common desire to release new productions and contribute to the international club scene is equivalent. Together, they combine their previous experiences and endeavors to launch a fresh and innovative musical journey! Roberto Intrallazzi began his musical career in the latter part of the 80's and beginning of the 90's as part of one of the most successful projects of the 'made in Italy' dance era, F.P.I. Project. Their track 'Rich in Paradise' received worldwide acclaim and was one of the first house music releases to come out of Italy. Over the 90's decade, his sound evolved into more like 'house' of today with influences from electro of the 80's. The combination of the strong energy and search for new rhythms typical of the 80's along with the contemporary minimal-electronic sound further assisted with the development of Roberto's style. In 2000, Roberto Intrallazzi met the DJ and producer, Luca Provera who matched Roberto's knowledge of music and technology. Luca got involved with music at a very young age by building his own recording studio and becoming familiar with the technicalities of making music. Luca utilized computers, mixers, samplers, and keyboards to launch his career as a producer and sound designer; employing both digital and analog equipment. Luca later went on to produce a private Italian radio show and together with the artist Intrallazzi produced the album 'The Pleasure is All Mine' by Kym Mazelle. His radio and recording studio know-how led him to quickly gain familiarity with both the software and hardware necessary to produce quality house music. He isn't just a quality producer however he is also a well-known DJ who plays frequently in alternative venues in Italy and all over the world.

This package also features Sandy's Original Mix and the bouncing 09 Remix. UK producer Mark Knight showcases his blossoming sound in his warped Toolroom Boys Mix with its wobbling bassline. Sandy teams up with Jay Sealee under their D-Menace alias for their bass-heavy remix. D-Dub Beats, Sand Beats and Take It Back Accapella mixes round off this exceptionally uplifting package. A protege of Osunlade who hails from the Dominican Republic, Ezel demonstrates a real flair for making deep, acidic house beats that touch on the transcendental. 'You Got Worked' is rhythmic, intense and playful all at once. Mateo Senolia's profound tones create equilibrium, balancing out the acidity of the beat with its smooth and spiritual qualities. Flanked by an Ice Cold Edit which pares back much of the sharp rhythms, a formidably deep remix from CASAMENA (aka Carlos Mena, himself a musical being from the Yoruba dimension) and an Accapella, 'You Got Worked' is a truly unique record. One of house music's true originators, Todd Terry was first discovered by pioneering New York house imprint Fourth Floor Records. Along with Mike Delgado, Todd was instrumental not only in establishing the label's early catalogue but in the future of two of his friends on the label who became a household name: Masters At Work. In fact, it was Todd that gave 'Little' Louie Vega and Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez the moniker, having used it himself to release productions like these two tracks 'Alright Alright' and 'Dum Dum Cry'. Both records, originally released in 1987, exhibit Terry's musical roots, combining hip-hop breakbeats, powerful electro-funk and playful freestyle melodies in his inimitable style. Saura label boss and one of Spain's leading house producers, Coyu, has joined forces with LA club songstress, Cari Golden, to deliver this seductive house number on Defected Records. 'Profound Pleasure' opens with a bass heavy kick and cracking wood drum followed by some heaving bass frequencies. The white noise storms in and out to introduce the vocal, a seductively spoken rendition by the classically trained vocalist Cari Golden. As the lyrics allude to the dark joys of revenge and broken love, the track breaks into a cascading and emotional cacophony. With its thumping energy and irresistible decadence, 'Profound Pleasure' is a pleasure for those who favour the darker side of the dance floor. Coyu featuring Cari Golden 'Profound Pleasure' 1. To kick start the celebrations of a formidable ten years of their Darkroom Dubs imprint, Silicone Soul's Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie present the first of in a line of several very special releases and events scheduled for 2013. 'Darkroom Dubs Vol.3 - Compiled & Mixed by Silicone Soul' is a retrospective which charts some of the many highlights from the label over the course of the past few years, since the release of Darkroom Dubs Vol. 2 in April 2010. First appearing on Scotland's seminal Soma label in 1998, DJ-production duo Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie, aka Silicone Soul, have occupied a special place in the over-crowded field of electronic dance music, mainly through the depth and quality of their recordings plus innate understanding of music's grand heritage and its constant development. They have released four critically acclaimed albums, gained residencies at some of Europe's most celebrated clubs, scooped numerous DJ Mag nominations, stormed the UK charts and launched their own label, Darkroom Dubs in 2003. The label's elevation above normal dance music concerns is personified by the fact that each release has carried Dracula author Bram Stoker's infamous words, "I am beginning to feel this nocturnal existence tell on me. It is destroying my nerve. I start at my own shadow and am full of all sorts of horrible imaginings...". A short video collage of still-startling silent movie surrealism has been produced to mark the tenth anniversary, further underlining the Darkroom Dubs ethos that the deep, the weird and the timelessly cool have been co-existing with organic ferocity over the last decade. Emerging from the ethereal space echoes and cosmic reverb of compilation opener 'One Thing (Ghost FX)', filters through a quote from Flight of the Phoenix, I think a man only needs one thing in life and thats someone to love, if you cant give him that, give him something to hope for, if you cant give him that, then just give him something to do. The mix then glides off into the minimal sounds of Of Norway's 'Blot Ditt Eige Lam (Frisvold & Lindbaek Remix)' and beyond. Over the course of the mix were expertly navigated through a slew of tracks oozing with soothing, melodic deepness, carefully blending special cuts like Terje Saether's 'Scared 'and Los Suruba's dubbed out remix of AFFKT's 'Fail Fast' into the understated build of Patlac's retake of 'The Woods' by Danza Macabra. The mix then rises into Alex Niggemann & Marc Poppcke's 'Keep It On' and Freska's delicious 'Honey From Within' before ending with two perfect examples of exactly what Silicone Soul, moreover the Darkroom Dubs imprint, does best: deep electronic music.

Nominated by DJ Mag for Best Album and as Best Producer in their Best of British Awards, the release was given rave reviews from everyone from Q to Record Collector, further heightened the resolute reputation of this talented duo. As the new decade arrives Silicone Soul have already concocted their latest project - a collection of exclusive, unreleased and favourite tracks from their own label, Darkroom Dubs. Another emotive excursion into the depths of the night, it fuses embers of darkness into flickers of light, indicative of their own unmistakable style and introduces the core artistic style and influences that have shaped their approach and imprint. Darkroom Dubs was born from the motivation to support quality underground electronic music regardless of style. Their output slices through the clutter and hits you straight in the heart. Silicone Soul continue to tour extensively, visiting everywhere from Murmansk to Melbourne last year, and the Darkroom Dubs label hold residencies at La Terrrazza (Barcelona), Cafe d'Anvers (Antwerp) and Pressure @ The Arches (Glasgow, UK). Opening with the supernatural sounds of Mirror Music, collaboration between Silicone Soul's Graeme Reedie and Dave Donaldson (the Hollywood film scorer who won a Grammy Award for Ray). Mirror Music's debut album appeared on Darkroom Dubs in 2008. "We first met Dave when he tracked a vocal session for our debut album. He has since mastered our last 4 albums and the majority of our singles." - Silicone Soul The mystical entry clears the way for some rich beats and exclusive material from Klartraum and Cocoon favourites Extrawelt who Silicone Soul admired enough to approach for material, due for release on limited edition vinyl on Darkroom Dubs later this year. More exclusives appear from Timid Boy and Feygin, whose 'Chisel' is a bonafide party starter! Three remixes appear of Silicone Soul's own material taken from last years album; Masomenos take on Dust Ballad II which is a compelling rework from the Parisian psychedelic house act; an exclusive Prompt remix of David Vincent's Blues from the 7Noise main man from Madrid; and Nivek Tsoy's remix of Language of the soul, a super deep house reworking by Kevin Yost's alter ego. Early classics from the label emerge from Martinez with Monday Morning and core DRD artists Jet Project's and Sei A's debut releases are highlights in the journey. Andy Graham aka Sei A productions appear twice on this project, a talent whose music is impossible to categorize making him exceedingly unique, with his second album now due on Tiga's Turbo Label. Jet Project's debut album was released on DRD last year and the duo have since released on Get Physical and Viva. Pushing up to the present, highlights from Darkroom Dubs 2009 output comes from Marc Poppcke - now progressing as one the leading lights in the Berlin house revival, and the most popular DRD track of 2009, Liapin's "Mandan". This was his DRD debut and Liapin and his Afrilounge crew are destined to be rising stars of 2010. This compilation is the second episode, a follow up to the 2005 Vol. 1, released when the label was still in its infancy. Darkroom Dubs Vol. 2 illustrates the imprints subsequent outlook and future vision. The mix was done in the traditional sense, using vinyl and Traktor Scratch Pro. The release will also feature a 30 track digital bundle.

West London's Slip 'n' Slide was one of the UK's original House imprints. Starting in 1994 with early releases and remixes from artists such as Blaze, Deep Dish, X-Press 2, King Britt, Masters At Work, Kings Of Tomorrow and Restless Soul, it set the benchmark for house music in the UK and gave a platform to artists who then went on to become all-time greats. This series revisits some of Slip 'n' Slide's standout releases, gleefully wading through the entire musical history of the label, blowing the dust off those albums and singles that deserve another lease of life, and a place in your classic house collection. 'I'm So Grateful' sees Ray Roc (one half of New York duo Roc & Kato) at the controls of a set of reworks of this track from Kings Of Tomorrow. His Master Mix has all the hallmarks of a mid-90s garage classic - an anthemic piano line, a powerful vocal, nagging organ stabs and an epic duration. His 'Dub-Strumental' strips the track back to the groove, Ray Roc To The Beats does what it says on the tin, and the 'Key-apella Blend' separates out the vocal, piano and bassline for DJs to get creative with. The release is completed with Angel Moraes providing a pair of tauter, more driving versions, whilst Joey Negro's re-edit remains faithful to the original to begin with, before venturing into more abstract tangents in its latter half.
