Cheshire, England–based Boosh DJ makes a powerful return to Piston Recordings after a long-awaited hiatus with his superb new Ultinacular EP. The last time we heard from him was back in 2015 with the standout Be A Man EP, a release that turned heads and earned widespread support from his peers. Were delighted to see him back once again and we hope to hear more in the future. Ultimatum gets the release underway, delivering a vibrant deep house cut infused with a UK garage edge, opening with crisp hats and tight, rhythmic percussion, setting the tone for whats to come. Soulful vocal scats weave through glitchy chord stabs, building anticipation before an infectious groove locks in. Punchy kicks and thick analogue basslines drive the rhythm with warmth and depth, while the break strips things back to a trippy, hypnotic sequence that teases the senses before diving straight back into the main groove. Vernacular concludes the EP, captivating from the very first bar with shimmering synth FX, snappy percussion, and driving energy. The offbeat bassline lands with irresistible swing, carrying the groove through a soundscape rich with deep pads, mellow keys, and catchy vocal elements. At its peak, a nostalgic hook emerges — a timeless flourish that channels the golden era of house while keeping one foot firmly in the modern dancefloor.
