let_rec's first tape is here! We've packed our last 3 digital EPs "Subzero Orbits EP", "Brainfog Cityscapes EP", and "Thaw EP" into a gorgeous tape entitled "Low End Therapy Vol. 2". Curated into two mixtapes – one on each side of the cassette – you'll hear artists inhabiting the global scenes of hybrid bass music. Exploring themes of city living and relationshiping, inner contemplation, solace, and cyclical renewal crafted through bassy ambient, IDMesque downtempo, and dubbed out sonics. Thanks to the artists who contributed the music on this tape! Playlist : Tape tracklist Side A Lily Haz & fisk – Big Slappa noRecall – Tattered DR MYSTERY – who is plead Monibi – Bowl Interlude Aysun – g h o s t Side B Pino Peña – Lots of Longing Shai FM – Coldest Light soo:k – Ambr 48 Ultramax – Pigneto Berlin based artists fisk & Lily Haz gifted us with their collaborative track "Big Slappa" born within the artist development programme run by let_rec in 2025. They explore textured low-end-driven constructions with this leftfield dubstep inspired piece. "Big Slappa" follows Lily Haz' string of ambient self releases and club-centric EPs for Flippen Disks, Antinote, and Warning. Both producers are avid music events creators, Lily Haz runs experimental bass Foggy while fisk's practice moves between exhibition and stage, merging activism and artistic expression, rooted in the DIY and event organising with SWANA music focused AL.Berlin and bass centric Greenroom. We have Kekoa M hailing from the Seattle underground, under the moniker noRecall, with his track "Tattered" blending icy textures with dubby basslines. When he's not crafting heavy low end tunes he's co-running the Ommaya Records imprint, connecting leftfield producers across the globe, and co-managing Sunrise Sound Collective, providing Funktion One Sound to DIY's in the Seattle area. DR. MYSTERY, artist, DJ and producer based in Manchester delivers a 100 BPM slammer packed with intricate low-end detailing, and ethereal vocality in her native tongue with "who is plead". The track evokes grit and a resolute commitment to marching forward. "who is plead" follows DR. MYSTERY's growing catalogue of releases on prominent labels such as 3024. Low End Therapy's French daddy Monibi goes ambient with her short Tibetan "Bowl Interlude". Monibi's following a musical deceleration from club centric music released on 3024, to experimental bass and her "Boss Bish EP" on YUKU, via dubstep and trip hop inspired tunes on let_rec. She explores a minimalistic but deeply intentional recording and listening practice with this track : pristine bowl captures drenched in reverb on a bed of wobbly sub bass make up this tonal enthralling sound piece. Staying true to her cosy, snug, sultry sound, Aysun's "g h o s t" is her first apparition since her debut EP on W133 where she established her delicate, late-night-under-a-blanket sonic vibe. In true "therapised and therapising" fashion Aysun's "g h o s t" is her first attempt at working with lyrics emerged out of journaling. She addressed her angry teenager and let her take over the studio session that made way for this track. Making space for optimism, lightness and calm, W133 label engine Pino Peña pulls the breaks on his trademark driving groovy bassy techno and dreams of solace and anchoring with "Lots of Longing". Upflifting string pads and field recordings from the animal kingdom enter the picture to create this ambient piece composed by the Berlin based DJ. The track's rhythm evokes the train journey where it was made. Pino was probably on his way back from a gig sometime in between one of his bi-monthly show on THF Radio, Coppi parties, or Open Tiny Records collective events. Shai FM examines his roots in more downtempo sounds for his let_rec debut and takes a step sideways from his usual hybrid bass club music as heard on his latest EP "Polarize" on Elicit Records. "Coldest Light" cultivates a belief in renewal and reflects hope and anticipation that someday soon we'll feel the warmth of life blooming again. Born in China's and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Shai FM is now running his weighty low-end pressure and immersive sound design operation out of Philadelphia. Another alumni of the 2025 let_rec artist development programme: South Korean producer soo:k. With her track "Ambr 48" we dive in deep abstractions anchored in ambient and leftfield electronics. Soo:k explores small shifts in rhythm and texture, slight irregularities and details that don't resolve too neatly. When reflecting about Ambr 48's origins, Soo takes us to a playground in South Korea, where she's sitting on swing, contemplating the sandy ground beneath her. There's a patch of pink sand marked by overlapping impressions from collective, anonymous movements of kids and adults who had run across it. She explains that Ambr 48's IDM sensibilities were inspired by those movements visible in the sand's colour and its ability to absorb pressure without breaking apart. Sound recordist and electronic musician Ultramax returns with his second track for the label he co-founded with a textural odyssey through thick foggy and misty soundscapes. His track "Pigneto" was named after the city where he recorded the sounds making up the base of his drony piece. Now based in Amsterdam after stints in Copenhagen and Berlin, the West German producer, DJ, and software developer for synthesizers and audio effects reaffirms his love of ambient with this offering.
