Kicking off the year in full party mode, Qdup and Keyz return to Fort Knox Recordings with the undeniable dancefloor heater Showstopper, featuring Vancouver, Canadas own Emotionz on the mic. Bridging scenes from DC to BC, this release delivers a high energy collision of funk, house, breakbeat, and hip-hop swagger, tailor made for packed clubs, festival stages, and late night dancefloors. Longtime FK family member Keyz (also known to fans as one of the b-boys featured in the video for Fort Knox Fives Shift) teams up with Qdup, whose genre blending production style has become synonymous with forward-thinking funk and bass-driven dance music. Add Emotionzs commanding vocal presence and playful lyrical flair, and Showstopper lives fully up to its name. The Qdup Funky VIP Mix of Showstopper (first premiered during FK5 & Qdups four-deck Fractal Forest set at Shambhala Music Festival 2025) captures a dance-like-no-one-is-looking spirit from the jump. Funk soaked guitar riffs and cut cup vocal chants pull listeners straight into the groove before Emotionz party rap stylings takes center stage, delivering his rhymes with swag and a cheeky booty vibe. A stomping house foundation and electrified, talking bassline drive the track forward, while breakbeat influenced builds and playful drops keep the energy bouncing and unpredictable. The result is a joyful, booty-shaking jam that balances club ready punch with festival scale fun. Sippin on that special juice / Doin anything you choose / Dance all night, get crazy loose / And wiggle round your booty chakra! The release comes complete with a radio edit, the extended mix for the DJs and an instrumental mix to fit the needs of playlists and DJs alike. Fort Knox Recordings thrives as a melting pot of genres, where Funk, Breaks, Latin, House, Trip-Hop, Bass, Disco, Downtempo, and more find their rightful home. Established in 2003, our mission is to explore the funkier side of music so forget about tempos and genres and have some fun!
Over the summer Australian funk and breaks producer Kenny Beeper reached out to Fort Knox Five with an idea, could the veteran beat maker turn an original hip hop acapella about the love of sneakers into a proper radio-friendly, toe-tapping, sing-along anthem? FK5 immediately set out to do just that and the two producers collaborated back and forth all summer long resulting in My Nikes, a rollicking slab of fun! Its not often that you get inspired to make a whole song just from listening to the vocals, but Tha Fun Police (Cam aka MC Sureshock, Luke aka Snuze and Kenny Beeper) along with the snappy additional vocals from Claire G, created such a hooky track with their rapid fire, party rockin raps that it was inevitable that an anthem was born.
