Retro Belgica marks their Bonzai Records debut with the fantastic The Wall. The Belgian electronic music outfit is a collaboration between producers Peter Bellaert aka Minimalistix, NRGY and Atlantis and Koen Patteeuw aka DJ Yargo. Drawing inspiration from the sounds of the 1990s, Retro Belgica blends nostalgic dance vibes with fresh electronic beats, creating both new tracks and remix packs that pay homage to classic club sounds. Some of their notable releases include Overdose, a collaboration with Franky Kloeck, and Thats the Sound produced with Bjorno, both of which capture the high-energy essence of Belgiums retro dance culture. The duo releases music through Retro Belgica Records, which is also known for remix EPs and bootlegs that bring a modern twist to the iconic club sounds of the past. Great to have them on board. The Original Mix kicks off the release, opening with an infectious 303 line that hooks you immediately, supported by punchy beats and a deep, rumbling bassline. Rhythmic percussions drive the groove forward, while a mesmerizing spoken word vocal adds a layer of intrigue. With a classic, nostalgic vibe, the track builds intensity as lush pads sweep in, leading to a euphoric breakdown filled with emotional, swelling chords. The retro groove ties it all together, making for a timeless journey on the dancefloor. Not to be missed. The Short Edit delivers the same energy and drive in a small package, perfect for getting right to the point on the airwaves.
Were thrilled to welcome the iconic Dutch DJ and producer Jaydee to Bonzai Records with his impressive release, Plastic Tears. Departing from our usual rave-driven style, this track delivers a deep, powerful blend of progressive tech infused with nostalgic undertones. A true legend in the electronic music scene, Jaydees influence remains strong as he performs across Europe and continues to craft remarkable tracks in the studio. Always a pleasure to have him on the label. The release opens with the Original Mix, kicking off with a deep, rolling bassline that pulses with a didgeridoo-like resonance, setting a hypnotic foundation. Chunky, driving beats lock in with crispy hi-hats, creating an irresistible groove. A fierce grungy vocal narrates, while warm Hammond-style piano motifs (no doubt a nod to Plastic Dreams) weave in, adding a soulful touch. Crunchy 303 lines bring raw texture, and bright synth plucks sparkle on top, creating a layered, evolving soundscape perfect for late-night floors. Jaydee is joined by two iconic artists, Manu Riga and Phi Phi, also known as Kayinda, who return to the label with their Dub Remix. After collaborating on multiple projects over the years, the duo officially formed Kayinda, gaining recognition through a series of standout tracks and remixes released on respected labels. With each release, they continue to solidify their presence in the music scene. The remix here takes us into darker territory, driving forward with solid, punchy beats and shimmering hi-hats, creating a deep, hypnotic groove. Layered with rhythmic percussions and droning basses, the energy builds in a moody undercurrent as dark stabs echo in a call-and-response pattern. Trippy, Hammond-style riffs swirl through the mix while Infectious synths pull you in, evoking nostalgic vibes reminiscent of the mighty Plastic Dreams. A truly immersive, late-night journey that is not to be missed.
